We had a great time in Florida last weekend at the final Ranch show of the year. Such great friends and competitors we get the chance to ride and show with. The many opportunities to learn and compete prepare us for the number of challenges outside the show arena.

In the show pen we had some great rides and were rewarded for them. Grace Fields and Que were high point novice youth team for the weekend and wrapped up the ARHA Novice Youth National Title as well.

Tamara Scheffler had a great weekend with us as well earning high point Amateur with Topper they also were third in Novice Ama (graduated Novice from here on) Looks like they will wind up reserve high point tin the region. Wish y'all had been with us sooner! Topper and Amanda Pope finished in top 5 Sr for the weekend as well.

Amanda Pope and I are so blessed to ride such good horses and be able to help so many riders along the way. Lilly and Mongo worked so well for us this weekend and all year. Lilly is such a beast in the cow classes she never ceases to amaze us. She wound up fifth for the weekend and even picked up points in conformation. Mongo proved again he is one of the best. Amanda and I both rode him in the sr classes ( I should have gotten her to show him in all of them lol) He was reserve Sr horse for the weekend. Thanks to the Florida Ranch Horse Club for the Maturity/Futurity Mongo was the inaugural Maturity Champion. Thanks to Garin Roiger and Amanda Pope for the help.

Joy and Collen working the show office keeps us all in stiches and on our toes. Thanks to the judges and show staff that keep us on time and able to go.

Our many friends / family thank you so much! Our Florida cow team means so much to us. Rick Steed, Rick Hawn, Jeremy Swainbank, Trent Rhea, Trevor Steed and so many more your ability to share your knowledge and time with us and so many other riders make these shows so much fun.

Things your riding instructor wants you to know: Pt1

1. This sport is hard. You don't get to bypass the hard…..every good rider has gone through it. You make progress, then you don't, and then you make progress again. Your riding instructor can coach you through it, but they cannot make it easy.
2. You're going to ride horses you don't want to ride. If you're teachable, you will learn from every horse you ride. Each horse in the barn can teach you if you let them. IF YOU LET THEM. Which leads me to…
3. You MUST be teachable to succeed in this sport. You must be teachable to succeed at anything, but that is another conversation. Being teachable often means going back to basics time and time and time again. If you find basics boring, then your not looking at them as an opportunity to learn. Which brings me to…..
4. This sport is a COMMITMENT. Read that, then read it again. Every sport is a commitment, but in this sport your teammate weighs 1200 lbs and speaks a different language. Good riders don't get good by riding every once in awhile….they improve because they make riding a priority and give themsevles opportunity to practice.l

*Find your center*

For a reiner this means to be precise and hunt the center of your pen because it's important for proper pattern placement and key if you want to score points.

What does finding your center mean in life?

It means finding your inner strength, peace, and lust for life. Find what drives you to be a better person.

Find balance in life, working hard is important if you want to get anywhere. But if your not enjoying life on the daily then what's the point?

Find your center; and focus on it daily. Set your intention and work hard to follow through.

In striving for it there will be times you fail, you miss it. Don't quit, don't give up. Try again!!
