Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon

Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon, Inc. is a volunteer run, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Golden Retrievers.

Goldens in need of new homes come from a variety of circumstances. Some come to us due to compelling family situations such as death, divorce, family illness, relocation or economic hardship. Other Goldens are released to rescue because of behavior problems due to lack of exercise and poor understanding of the needs of the breed. Like many rescue organizations, we offer the benefits of being able

to provide dogs who are already spayed or neutered, who have had a sound fundamental health examination, and whose temperament is fairly well known (since they have all lived with our foster families). Some of our dogs have not had a loving family in the past, but many have. Some may have behavioral problems, but many do not. And some need special medical care, just as most any dog will eventually. Many of our dogs need some level of training. All of our dogs need significant amounts of time, attention, patience, and love to adjust to their forever homes. Golden Bond Rescue is a resource for people who would like to give Golden Retrievers (or dogs that are mostly Golden) a second chance in life.

Are you looking for other ways to get involved with GBR? Fostering is a great way to help other dogs in need, on their path to getting “adoption ready.” Perhaps your resident dog needs a “play date” now and then!
We consider many factors to find the right match for each dog so need a big pool of foster home candidates. And we need people in Oregon and Washington so we can keep dogs in state as much as possible. We have temporary (up to 3 weeks), short term (up to 3 months), and any duration options, and capture individual preferences so fosters can help in ways that fit their family (humans and pets!).

GBR does NOT have a kennel or facility. In order to accept dogs into the rescue, we need foster homes who will foster dogs. If we are asked to take in a local or international dog, we have to first find a foster home who is willing to foster that dog. Once a foster says yes I will foster this dog, then GBR can accept the dog into the rescue. This is why we rely so heavily on our foster homes. ⭐ Foster Family Found!⭐

Interested in a bonded pair? Live in a rural or semi-rural setting? Have the patience to work with integrating country dogs to city life?
Henry (M, 2nd slide) and Ainsley (F, 1st slide) are both 8 years old, Beautiful English Cream Goldens who have lost their human mom to cancer. Both pups are intact, but will be spayed & neutered after they arrive in their foster to adopt home.

We are hoping to find a home for them that is rural, or semi-rural as they have always lived in the country and city noises cause them some stress. With the right setting and someone with patience to help them work through the changes they may do ok in the city as well. These are very sweet dogs who were very loved by their humans. They are not farm dogs, they just had property to run on. They lived in the house and have great house manors. They are your typical golden retriever, wanting all the extra love pets. They do get along with other dogs who are calm and more submissive. Pushy or aggressive dogs would not be good as they did not have a lot of socialization with other dogs so being only dogs together would be ideal.

We are looking for a foster to adopt family for this pair, this means your intention is to adopt the pair. If you are an approved applicant or adopted from us in the past, please reach out to your Adoption Manager.

‼️FOSTER NEEDED‼️
Meet Cooper, a 10-month-old male intact Golden Retriever/Shepherd mix (his owner states mom was a white German Shepherd & dad is a Golden Retriever) weighing approximately 70+ lbs.
Cooper has boundless energy and a heart full of love! Cooper is a large, strong boy who has spent much of his life crated, so he is bursting with excitement to explore the world. He is incredibly friendly and open, always eager to meet new people, but he tends to jump on them and can be a bit overwhelmed with his enthusiasm. Cooper is a bit of a wild child about 80% of the time, so he needs an experienced foster or trainer who can give him the structure he’s been missing. Despite his lack of training, Cooper is surprisingly good on a leash and enjoys walks, which is great because he definitely needs regular exercise and mental stimulation to thrive. He’s not particularly food-motivated, which may make training a bit more challenging, but with patience and consistency, Cooper has a lot of potential. He has shown some undesirable behaviors like digging in the yard and scratching doors, which are likely due to boredom and lack of activity. Cooper is healthy and has a sweet, playful personality, but he needs a foster who can handle his size and energy and is committed to helping him learn manners. With the right care and attention, Cooper will grow into a wonderful companion.

Happy October! Weezie apparently never learned to swim in China before her rescue. In this early photo, she is learning to enjoy the water a little bit at a time. Since then, she has (mostly) learned and enjoys paddling around in the high Cascade Lakes of central Oregon.

⭐ Ready to Adopt! ⭐ Howdy! My name is Mae ( #4106), but my foster family calls me Ana Mae. I am a 9-month old Labrador Retriever-mix. I’m tall and athletic, and weigh 80 pounds. Wow, I’m a big girl!

I am bright, curious and very energetic. A 2 mile walk is easy; I come home and run zoomies around the yard! I have found playing with other dogs, in addition to daily walks, to be best for me. (My foster mom takes me to doggy day care twice a week to play with other dogs). I would love to have a big fenced yard and a dog buddy in my forever home!

⭐ Foster Found!⭐

Foster or Adopter Needed!
Bella is a 3 year old, spayed, Golden mix. She is a funny, quirky, sweet and affectionate girl needing a new home. She has perfect house manners but could use a little help on walks as she pulls a bit. She loves to play with balls and is happy to just be by your side.

She is good with other dogs but can be a bit possessive of her toys sometimes and gets grumpy with younger, pushy dogs who don’t have boundaries, but she’s never been aggressive. She would do well with an older calm or submissive dog to give her confidence.

Bella’s current home has become too chaotic with other family members coming and going with their dogs and kids. Her owners see that Bella would really be happier in a quieter home with less chaos.

⭐ Ready to Adopt Goose!⭐ Meet Goose #4144! Goose is about 6 months old, male intact Labrador Retriever (he will need to be neutered). He's an active, sweet puppy ready for any adventure. He loves any outing you can throw at him- swimming, running in the woods, car rides, play dates with other dogs. Goose is a malleable puppy ready to be trained by you. He has a few commands under his belt and is mostly house trained. He sleeps in his kennel at night and can be there during the day if needed. Goose for such a young guy has already been bounced around a bit so unfortunately he has a little bit of separation anxiety. Plays great with dogs, reasonable with cats.

⭐ Ready to Adopt ⭐ Meet 33 pound, 5 month old Goldendoodle Gracie #4139. Surrendered by a family with little kids, she did great with them and was loved, but they felt they just didn’t have enough time for her. Indeed, this chocolate nugget is a people dog, but she also loves to play with other dogs. She gets along with both the Golden Retrievers in her foster home. And she loves to play with the kitten too (and lived with cats in her surrendering home). Gracie is 95% housetrained and she’s also crate trained (although it’s not her favorite place to be). She loves her walks and does well on leash. And she’s a smart girl/people pleaser who has already mastered several commands.

Gracie is looking for a family who has time and energy to continue her training and give her good exercise to make her the best dog that she can be. She really would love someone who is home more than not or who would be able to send her to doggie daycare. She was used to her family being around during the day and her foster family works full time.

Happy September! Olive is a rescue from Istanbul, Turkey and was one of the few lucky dogs saved from a life on the streets. I adopted Olive on July 22, 2017 and that day my life changed forever for the better. Olive has been my constant companion and best friend for the past six years and is a sweet, loving, loyal, playful, and independent girl who loves swimming, playing fetch, chasing squirrels, birds, laying in the sun and playing with her brother Dino.

This little lady is GBR Timon, she is a 1 yr old spayed female Lab mix who recently was diagnosed with ringworm. Her current foster has two dogs and unfortunately, the vet says she needs a house where she's not around other animals while she goes through treatment for ringworm. Treatment will last through September.

💊 Her medical treatment is really easy just pills once a day for a month and a special bath twice a week.

GBR Ocean is a 1 yr old neutered male Labradoodle who needs a temporary foster home from the morning of Aug. 30 until the evening of Sept. 2 while his regular fosters are out of town.

This Is Why 🙏🏼💛 We want to introduce you to GBR Grace. This sweet girl has quite a story to tell. Grace was spotted by several people wandering around the desert of eastern Oregon by Plush. She was tracked by drones and people for over 4 months. The terrain didn't allow for much foot traffic or traps and if anyone did get close enough, she would not come. After 4 MONTHS, last Wednesday, she wandered into a camp at Hart Mountain Refuge and laid down. She was absolutely exhausted, hungry and needed help. The kind people there got her to Lakeview, Oregon. She was given to Rhonda in Lakeview who runs a nonprofit called Animal House. Standing tall and proud, Bella would thrive as an only dog or with a non-alpha buddy. She's great with kids 13+ and loves training, hiking, and traveling. She is crate-trained. A cat-free home is preferred. She is a loving companion and is always ready to snuggle. She needs to move to her new foster home by July 4th.
