Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon

Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon, Inc. is a volunteer run, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Golden Retrievers.

Goldens in need of new homes come from a variety of circumstances. Some come to us due to compelling family situations such as death, divorce, family illness, relocation or economic hardship. Other Goldens are released to rescue because of behavior problems due to lack of exercise and poor understanding of the needs of the breed. Like many rescue organizations, we offer the benefits of being able

to provide dogs who are already spayed or neutered, who have had a sound fundamental health examination, and whose temperament is fairly well known (since they have all lived with our foster families). Some of our dogs have not had a loving family in the past, but many have. Some may have behavioral problems, but many do not. And some need special medical care, just as most any dog will eventually. Many of our dogs need some level of training. All of our dogs need significant amounts of time, attention, patience, and love to adjust to their forever homes. Golden Bond Rescue is a resource for people who would like to give Golden Retrievers (or dogs that are mostly Golden) a second chance in life.

Happy February! Elsie and Ginger are both Golden Bond Rescue dogs that we adopted when they were puppies. Elsie came to us from China at 10 weeks old, and we adopted Ginger at 8 weeks in Beavercreek, OR after her momma was surrendered from an Ohio breeder in late 2021. Elsie and Ginger have become best of friends and enjoy many crazy adventures together. We are so grateful to Golden Bond Rescue for bringing these two cuties into our life, they add so much love and joy to our family.

Welcome Emma, Noel, Holly, Renee and Cole! 💛
GBR had a busy weekend at SeaTac welcoming 5 dogs from S Korea. Huge thanks to our volunteers who helped at the airport and our transport crew who delivered the pups to their foster homes.
🐾 Emma & Noel are 7 month old female Golden Retrievers who were rescued together in S Korea who are settling in with their foster and foster to adopt families
🐾 Holly is a 5 yr female Golden Retriever mix who is with her foster to adopt family
🐾 Cole is a 4 yr neutered male Black Lab who is with a foster family
🐾 Renee is a 3 yr spayed female Golden Retriever/Lab mix who is with a foster family

⭐⭐ Emma & Holly are with foster to adopt families (approved adoption applicants)

❤️HUGE thank you to our foster families, GBR does not have a kennel facility so in order for us to bring pups over we have to line up foster homes prior to the dogs arriving into the US
❤️We are always in need of foster homes, if you are interested in fostering for GBR click on the link

💛 COURTESY POST 💛
Bristol is 6.5 years old, spayed, house trained, and current on vaccines. Her ideal weight is around 65lbs. She is a WeimarGoldenDoodle - her Dad is a purebred Weimaraner and her Mom is ½ Golden Retriever and ½ Poodle. Her owner has had her since she was 3 months old and they’ve moved a few times, always to remote areas where she and Bristol could hike and enjoy the outdoors. She adores Bristol but must rehome her due to circumstances she cannot change.
This beautiful girl is looking for a companion. Someone she can adore, snuggle next to, and join on outings. And if you will allow it, she will lay on your lap - all 85lbs of her and her wonderfully soft fur. For outings, Bristol loves running off leash and exploring, but also likes walking on leash. And, she is fabulous in the car so she is ready to go where you go!

⭐ COURTESY POST ⭐
This is exquisitely hard for me to write. Please read it knowing that we have given it so much thought and that our decision is the product of years of trying other solutions.

We need to rehome our dog Buck. He is a 6 yo chocolate lab. He is a wonderful dog 99.5% of the time and we love him deeply. However, he does not do well living with either another dog or a young child, and that stress manifests as him biting our other dog every few months. We have tried medications and training, both of which have helped, but not resolved the problem. He has had an in-depth veterinary behaviorist work-up to rule out any exacerbating issues. Our vet, who we have worked with at length, agrees that it is time.

He is beautiful, relatively well trained, and generally a happy, funny guy. He loves to go on hikes and runs with me, and play endless fetch. He also loves to loaf around like a couch potato. He can occasionally have mild leash reactivity (as in I do not let him interact with other dogs when we’re out), but is mostly very good on a leash. He is approximately 80lbs. He has the energy to fire up and have puppy fits once or twice a day, but is happy to snooze for most of the day. He’s crate trained and likes his crate.

He would do best in a house with no other dog and no young kids. He has never shown any aggression toward my toddler but is definitely less comfortable with her around, and his stress level and reactivity have worsened since she was born. He needs a fenced yard and experienced dog owners. With an individual or a couple with whom he could be an only dog, I think he would be extremely happy and just a wonderful companion dog.

He is neutered. He's up to date on shots and all routine care. We are in SW Portland, OR.

We did not ever anticipate being in this situation. I appreciate your grace. Please reach out with any questions. We would want you to come meet him multiple times and spend some quality time with him to make sure it is a good match, and we would also want to get to know you and to see your space. We are fully committed to doing the right thing by Buck, and will take as much time as we need to find his person.

‼️URGENT FOSTER NEEDED‼️
Cole is arriving at SeaTac from South Korea on Sunday, January 26th, and he needs a foster home. Here's what we know about him:
🐾 Black Lab
🐾 4 y/o
🐾 Neutered
🐾 55-60 lbs
🐾 He was treated for heartworm in South Korea. Treatment has been completed. No activity restriction is necessary.
🐾 Good with people and other dogs
🐾 Of course, we never know whether the international dogs are housetrained or how they are with cats.

As you can see, Cole is a handsome boy, although he looks a bit forlorn in his shelter photo. But he's all smiles and full of energy after being rescued!
🐾 Video in comments

As mentioned above, Cole will arrive at SeaTac on Sunday, January 26th. He will be flying on Asiana Air, OZ272, and will arrive about 11 am. We can find transport for him to a convenient meeting place if you don't live near SeaTac.
As usual, he has received his requisite vaccines in South Korea, but will need to be seen by a vet soon after being fostered for his US wellness check-up.
Please let me know right away if you'd be willing to foster Cole since we're very short on time. And thank you for considering him. 🐾 Fosters MUST be located in WA or OR 🐾

🌟 If you are an already approved foster or live in our foster/adoption area of WA/OR and you are able to foster Cole, please email Jennee at [email protected]
🌟 If you have an approved adoption application on file with GBR and are interested in fostering Cole, please reach out to your Adoption Manager or email Jennee at [email protected]

Handsome Bear is an approximately 11 month old neutered Black Labrador Retriever-mix, and he's ready to find his forever home! He is 78 pounds of pure puppy joy! His foster parents think he is the biggest cuddliest sweetest boy. He'd be a great fit for an active family, maybe someone who works from home or has time to play with him during the day. If you’ve got a fenced yard, a doggy sibling, and a love for outdoor adventures, he'd love to join your family and be your loyal companion!

December has been a busy month for GBR. Thanks to all of our dedicated volunteers & loyal donors, we have been able to bring in so many dogs in need this month. Most of these dogs are either in foster care or “foster to adopt” homes while they get any medical treatment & care they need. Some of the dogs that we have seen come in this month have been in desperate need of even some of the most basic survival needs such as food & shelter. Here are 4 special pups that we were able to help 💛
From top to bottom, right to left.

💛Gingerbread - She is a 6 yr old female brown Lab. She was found as a stray along with her 10 mth old daughter (black lab, helped by another rescue). Her & her daughter both were starving and in urgent need of food & veterinary attention. A local shelter took both dogs in and allowed GBR to step in and help. We are thrilled to have Gingerbread & look forward to getting her healthy & in her forever home.

💛Sweetie - Sweetie is a young & very small Golden Retriever. She is a local release & came with very little information. Sweetie was living outdoors & underweight when she came to us. Sweetie is now in our Foster to Adopt program & is thriving in her new home.

💛Belrish - He is a 2 year old English Lab that came in as a local release. He was living in deplorable conditions & suffering from a skin infection that has caused him to lose most of his fur. The GBR community pulled together & through the help of some very good hearted people, we got Belrish into a foster home and he has begun his path to recovery. This is one special boy & his foster says he is a total love bug.

💛Holly - She came to us from a local shelter the week of Christmas. This 6 mth old Golden Retriever puppy was found as a stray with no collar & no chip. Holly is a very small Golden Retriever & likely mixed with a smaller dog such as a Spaniel. Holly is smart and eager to learn. Her foster has already taught her a few commands and she appears to be house trained. She is cute as a button and we are all in love with Holly!

🐾 We are always in desperate need of foster homes, if you are interested in fostering, head to our website and submit an application!

‼️ SPECIAL FOSTER NEEDED ASAP‼️
GBR was contacted to help this big dude, he is a local owner release and we can help him, we just need a special foster to step up so we can bring him into the rescue. 🙏🏼

What we know about Belrish 4190 is that he is an intact 1½ year old English Black Lab who weighs about 100 lbs and has skin issues probably due to allergies. Once in GBR's care we will get him to a dermatologist.
Bel currently lives with cats, small dogs and 1 other large dog and gets along fine with all of them (unless they try to interrupt him when he’s eating – he’ll growl). It sounds like he might have occasional accidents in the house and will use piddle pads (could be a medical reason for this).
He evidently had some basic obedience training at one time, but sounds like the training wasn't kept up and has had little socialization with people and other dogs. The dog evaluator found Bel quite fearful when meeting someone new (but no aggression seen).
Bel's situation is quite dire and he needs to get some good vet care and TLC asap, he’s probably in pain with all of his skin inflammation.

🐾 BONUS We have an offer of a very experienced trainer (a licensed positive trainer who has helped rescue dogs at Homeward Bound in CA for years) to work remotely for free with any foster or adopter of Belrish!

Who will open up their home and hearts so we can give him the time and patience he needs to help with the fearfulness, and help GBR get to the bottom of his skin issues?

🌟If you are interested in fostering Belrish, please email Kay at [email protected] - WA/OR only

🌟 If you have an approved adoption application on file with GBR and are interested in fostering Belrish, please reach out to your adoption manager

⭐ Ready to Adopt ⭐ My name is Marci ( #4169). I am an 18-month old Labrador Retriever/Swiss Shepherd-mix. I am at my target weight (about 70 pounds), and my foster family calls me a “long-legged beauty.”

I am looking for a quiet life with someone I can give my loyal and loving heart to forever. I’m a sweet and affectionate girl, sensitive and a bit serious and shy. I have a silly side – when I wake up in the morning, I’ll chase my tail until I’m staggering, and I do somersaults off the sofa (not always intentionally!). For some reason, I’m fascinated by the shower, and would willingly climb in with you. My bright eyes dance when I can entice you into playing keep-away, catch, or tug-a-war with me.

I love all other dogs, especially little ones, and they like me, too – I have excellent doggy manners. I can take a little more time to warm up to humans and am suspicious of strangers. A few minutes after I meet someone new, I will start bringing them my toys, and we will be fast friends. I am a favorite at doggy daycare. I also get along fine with indoor cats.
