Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon

Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon, Inc. is a volunteer run, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Golden Retrievers.

Goldens in need of new homes come from a variety of circumstances. Some come to us due to compelling family situations such as death, divorce, family illness, relocation or economic hardship. Other Goldens are released to rescue because of behavior problems due to lack of exercise and poor understanding of the needs of the breed. Like many rescue organizations, we offer the benefits of being able

to provide dogs who are already spayed or neutered, who have had a sound fundamental health examination, and whose temperament is fairly well known (since they have all lived with our foster families). Some of our dogs have not had a loving family in the past, but many have. Some may have behavioral problems, but many do not. And some need special medical care, just as most any dog will eventually. Many of our dogs need some level of training. All of our dogs need significant amounts of time, attention, patience, and love to adjust to their forever homes. Golden Bond Rescue is a resource for people who would like to give Golden Retrievers (or dogs that are mostly Golden) a second chance in life.

⭐ Ready to Adopt ⭐ My name is Marci ( #4169). I am an 18-month old Labrador Retriever/Swiss Shepherd-mix. I am at my target weight (about 70 pounds), and my foster family calls me a “long-legged beauty.”

I am looking for a quiet life with someone I can give my loyal and loving heart to forever. I’m a sweet and affectionate girl, sensitive and a bit serious and shy. I have a silly side – when I wake up in the morning, I’ll chase my tail until I’m staggering, and I do somersaults off the sofa (not always intentionally!). For some reason, I’m fascinated by the shower, and would willingly climb in with you. My bright eyes dance when I can entice you into playing keep-away, catch, or tug-a-war with me.

I love all other dogs, especially little ones, and they like me, too – I have excellent doggy manners. I can take a little more time to warm up to humans and am suspicious of strangers. A few minutes after I meet someone new, I will start bringing them my toys, and we will be fast friends. I am a favorite at doggy daycare. I also get along fine with indoor cats.

Happy December! Two lives saved by GBR: Kenzo (GBR Terry 3488) was rescued in April, 2021 from South Korea. He's a survivor, a clown, the sweetest boy ever and now my best friend (a foster failure from Day 1). He has been a great foster brother to several dogs including this one Goldendoodle GBR Penny 3845 who GBR also saved. Kenzo is always ready for an adventure and never tires of being told how cute he is!

Dear Golden Bond Supporter,
We are writing to share important news regarding leadership at Golden Bond Rescue. After 8+ years of dedicated service as GBR’s President, Jill Groves has decided to step down. We are excited to announce that Brittany Amarillas will be stepping into the role of Vice President.
We are deeply grateful to Jill Groves for her vision and leadership, which have helped Golden Bond Rescue grow over the years, including the establishment of our international rescue efforts. Brittany Amarillas, who brings years of professional leadership and fundraising experience, is poised to help lead our organization into the next phase of growth and impact while we continue our search for GBR’s next President.
Rest assured that Golden Bond Rescue remains fully committed to our mission of rescuing and rehoming Golden Retrievers and Labradors in need, both locally and internationally. ⭐ Ready to Adopt! ⭐ Bear #4168 🐻

Hi there! I’m Bear, a big 9-month-old neutered Black Lab mix, and I’m ready to find my forever home! I weigh 78 pounds of pure puppy joy and have lots of love to give. I’ve got a huge heart, and I’m looking for a family who can keep up with my energy.

I love being around my people and I’m pretty friendly with everyone I meet! I might be a bit too big and playful for younger children since I’m a tall boy and may accidentally knock them over.

My foster family doesn’t have another dog, and they think I’d do really well with a sibling that has a similar energy level to keep up with me and someone I can learn from. I’m super curious and love to play, so I’d be thrilled to have a doggy buddy to share adventures with.

I’m still learning some stuff, like basic commands and recall (treats make it easier for me to learn!), but I already know “sit” and “paw” like a pro. I’m house trained, but I might need a little more practice on not jumping up on people when I’m excited. Sometimes I get the zoomies if i get very excited or don’t get enough exercise (my foster home doesn’t have a big yard). I’m a big fan of walks and love getting outside, but since I'm still a puppy, my leash training skills will need a little help - I like to pull. I’m still learning recall and I’d be happiest in a home with a big fenced-in backyard where I can run and play to my heart’s content.

My foster parents think i am the biggest cuddliest sweetest boy. I’d be a great fit for an active family, maybe someone who works from home or has time to play with me during the day. If you’ve got a fenced yard, a doggy sibling, and a love for outdoor adventures, I’d love to join your family and be your loyal companion!

Biscuit is a very special and lucky girl, she has joined our GBR family and is currently with her new foster family.
🐾 A note from her foster mom, "This has been a very big day for foster pup Biscuit. Her entire life since she was brought home as a puppy has been what you see in the video. Never been in a house, rarely off tether for exercise, and only a handful of walks and car rides.

Going into a house for the first time is a pretty big deal, so many new and scary things that we don’t even think about. She’s a brave and friendly girl who is taking it in stride beautifully. So today was a very big day - she became a Golden Bond dog."

This is why fostering is so important in rescue. Because of wonderful foster families like Biscuit's, we were able to help her.

We are always in desperate need for foster homes, please consider opening up your home and heart so we can continue to help dogs like Biscuit, they all deserve to be loved & to get a second chance at life 💛

Are you looking for other ways to get involved with GBR? Fostering is a great way to help other dogs in need, on their path to getting “adoption ready.” Perhaps your resident dog needs a “play date” now and then!
We consider many factors to find the right match for each dog so need a big pool of foster home candidates. And we need people in Oregon and Washington so we can keep dogs in state as much as possible. We have temporary (up to 3 weeks), short term (up to 3 months), and any duration options, and capture individual preferences so fosters can help in ways that fit their family (humans and pets!).

GBR does NOT have a kennel or facility. In order to accept dogs into the rescue, we need foster homes who will foster dogs. If we are asked to take in a local or international dog, we have to first find a foster home who is willing to foster that dog. Once a foster says yes I will foster this dog, then GBR can accept the dog into the rescue. This is why we rely so heavily on our foster homes. ⭐ Foster Family Found!⭐

Interested in a bonded pair? Live in a rural or semi-rural setting? Have the patience to work with integrating country dogs to city life?
Henry (M, 2nd slide) and Ainsley (F, 1st slide) are both 8 years old, Beautiful English Cream Goldens who have lost their human mom to cancer. Both pups are intact, but will be spayed & neutered after they arrive in their foster to adopt home.

We are hoping to find a home for them that is rural, or semi-rural as they have always lived in the country and city noises cause them some stress. With the right setting and someone with patience to help them work through the changes they may do ok in the city as well. These are very sweet dogs who were very loved by their humans. They are not farm dogs, they just had property to run on. They lived in the house and have great house manors. They are your typical golden retriever, wanting all the extra love pets. They do get along with other dogs who are calm and more submissive. Pushy or aggressive dogs would not be good as they did not have a lot of socialization with other dogs so being only dogs together would be ideal.

We are looking for a foster to adopt family for this pair, this means your intention is to adopt the pair. If you are an approved applicant or adopted from us in the past, please reach out to your Adoption Manager.

This Is Why 🙏🏼💛 We want to introduce you to GBR Grace. This sweet girl has quite a story to tell. Grace was spotted by several people wandering around the desert of eastern Oregon by Plush. She was tracked by drones and people for over 4 months. The terrain didn't allow for much foot traffic or traps and if anyone did get close enough, she would not come. After 4 MONTHS, last Wednesday, she wandered into a camp at Hart Mountain Refuge and laid down. She was absolutely exhausted, hungry and needed help. The kind people there got her to Lakeview, Oregon. She was given to Rhonda in Lakeview who runs a nonprofit called Animal House. There is no animal control out there, just a lady who does the best she can. Grace is now in Springfield, Oregon with one of our fabulous Golden Bond volunteers. She is doing well and thriving. She will be looking for her forever home soon ❤️ Thank you to Rhonda and everyone else who was involved and worked so hard to get this girl to safety.
