Hi Everyone!

Meet Mocha!

This handsome man and his mom had an unfortunate encounter with a neighbor dog 6 times his size. Scary… for everyone involved. Mocha’s mom reached out to us that same day looking for a solution to Mocha's reactivity and aggressive/fear-based behavior. This was the point our training started.

Truthfully Mocha, his mom, and sister pup Cinnamon had been struggling for a while with Mocha’s growing reactivity.

We all gathered around a reactivity training plan and now Mr. Mocha is on the road to healing. He is noticing fewer triggers, having fewer outbursts, and redirecting beautifully. He was a perfect candidate for our 1:1 training sessions which allows us to work at his family's pace over time. Great job Mr. Mocha!!

Should I crate my dog?

We do utilize a crate frequently.

The crates provide a safe space for our dogs.

We use them in separating our multi-dog household at appropriate times, from kids, visitors, in times of need, and for safeguarding our own sanity:)

The crates help us to promote calmness in our home which is something we need in bucket loads with our barking guard dog dachshunds!

The enjoyment of a safe space is a massive gift for our dogs, and it is a really cool thing to teach.

The goal is to see that our dogs are safe at certain points; for instance, when we are leaving the house, when we have visitors coming into the house, when they need a nap, etc. Ultimately you get to decide how you use it.

If you like it, awesome! If a crate is not for you, think through the ways you can ensure your dog is safe when you are not able to supervise. Happy training, and if you would like to learn more on how to teach awesome crate skills please send us a message!

Check out this cutie!!!

This is Dougie. He is just a couple of months old and his parents have been eager since the beginning to work with him on building a strong foundation of learning. Initially, we did a new puppy consultation to get them started then they messaged that they were ready to start loose leash walking! Dougie had been out on a few walks with them and was finding all of those smells oh so enticing which equaled a lot of pulling.

We did 2 short 30min 1:1 sessions with Dougie to start while his parents were having some fun on the Mt. Hood slopes and the next day we all regrouped. Dougie and his parents did wonderfully and by the end he stuck right by their side with no pulling! Awesome job lovely Dougie family!

If you would like some fun puppy skills or loose leash walking help please send us a message, happy training!
