🐢🍫 Attention all dog lovers! 🍫🐢

🚨 Urgent PSA: All of that left over Easter chocolate can be toxic to our pets! 🚨
We recently had a precious pup present to Bridgetown Vet after he ended up devouring chocolate.
Did you know that chocolate contains theobromine, which can be extremely harmful to dogs? Even a small amount can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and in severe cases, it can lead to seizures or even be fatal. Thankfully, this pup's owner acted quickly and rushed him to our amazing team at Bridgetown Veterinary Emergency and Referral (BVER). Our veterinarians and staff immediately sprang into action, providing life-saving treatment and closely monitoring this hungry little guy's condition.
We are thrilled to report that he's now back to his wagging self!
πŸ™πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ Remember, folks, prevention is key! Keep all Easter chocolates well out of your pet's reach. If you suspect your pet has ingested chocolate or any other toxic substance, don't hesitate to contact Bridgetown Vet immediately at (503) 489-9535. Our dedicated team is here to help, providing top-notch care for your beloved pets. 🐾❀️

Meet our brave little feline friend named Earl, who accidentally swallowed a long rubber tube. Thanks to the expertise of Dr. Nathanson, our talented internal medicine specialist, the day was saved with an endoscopy procedure!

πŸ”¬πŸ” Why was endoscopy the procedure of choice in this situation? It's a minimally invasive procedure where a thin, flexible tube with a tiny camera attached is gently inserted into the esophagus and down into the stomach. This allows the veterinarian to visualize and explore the stomach, removing foreign bodies without the need for any major incisions.
🐾✨ With Dr. Nathanson's skillful hands and the assistance of cutting-edge technology, we were able to safely remove the rubber tube. Earl is now on the road to a speedy recovery, and we couldn't be happier! πŸ˜ΊπŸ’•

Please welcome the newest member of our doctor ER team; Dr. Sarah Hunter!
Dr. Hunter grew up in Portland (go Generals!) and is thrilled to provide care and compassion to her community during their scariest moments. She ventured to upstate NY for her undergraduate degree before returning home to attend veterinary school at Oregon State’s College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating in 2017, she jumped right into ER medicine and has spent her time in both ER and urgent care medicine since then.

Dr. Hunter’s veterinary passions vary between wound management, soft tissue surgery and managing puzzling endocrinopathies. She strives to make sure her patient’s family are part of the medical decision making and that they have a good understanding of everything that is happening with their furry family member.
Outside of work, she stays busy entertaining two young kiddos with the help of her husband. She has a crazy blue heeler named Oscar and a feisty feline named Marvin. She enjoys knitting, hiking, and reading books to unwind.
