Sophia is a ball of energy and toy-shaking when I arrive, but she always melts deeply into her massages, thanking me with the softest contented grunts and snores.

Sam has been falling asleep more and more often during his massages. How do I know? Because he's been twitching his legs rhythmically, dreaming of running around while I work on him. This is one of the most heartwarming compliments a client could give!

Ivy is making big progress in her massage journey! She's gone from barely tolerating one-handed light touch, to participating in a full two-handed massage. Once she had her fill at her last session, she hopped off the couch and laid out on the ground to relax and process all the change I initiated. Great job Ivy!

Very Important Pooch was born three years ago today! It's been a wild three years, chock-full of ups and downs. Many many thanks to everyone who has supported me over these years, and here's to many more to come!

Sam's family recently started him on painkillers at the urging of his vet. At his massage session, Sam was not only less reactive to outside noises, but he clearly relaxed more deeply into his massage, AND he allowed me to stretch his bad hip for the first time in months!

I love seeing him feeling better, and it's a great reminder that pain killers and massage paired together can be more effective than either on its own.

Meet miss Ivy! She's a super mutt needing to manage pain from osteoarthritis. She's a very sensitive girl, so her owner and I are working together to introduce her to massage with my very gentlest strokes. After our first session she was happily rolling around on her back in the grass, something she hadn't done in quite a while!

Scout had hip replacement surgery last month and he and his owner are doing stellar during his recovery! After getting his sutures out, and a go-ahead from the doctor, Scout is back to getting massages from me to help his recovery.

In these earlier weeks, massage can help move out lymphatic fluids & bring fresh blood to the area to speed up tissue healing and reduce any swelling or inflammation. As he gets back on his feet (literally!), massage can help with proprioception recalibrations, (re)gaining flexibility and/or range of motion, and relieving soreness from muscle (re)building. And during the whole process, massage offers morale boosting, boredom busting good times!

Chug passed out hard after his massage session. His owner sent me this sweet photo not long after I had left 😍

Chug is a very Always On Duty kind of security guy, so seeing him relaxed and "off duty" is truly heartwarming.

That's right! I'm offering an Introduction to Dog Massage Workshop hosted by Canine PT and Me on Sunday, October 6th from 3:30pm - 4:30pm.

We'll be going over how massage can benefit your dog, basic Swedish massage strokes, signs your dog is/isn’t enjoying massage, and of course some hands-on practice with your dog.

There is a $50 workshop fee (pre-paid to reserve your spot) and there's only ONE spot left already! I am flattered and even more excited than before.

You can sign-up at www.veryimportantpoochpdx.com/workshop-signup or DM me to snag that last spot.

This may not look like much, but for Emi it was a big sign of improved trust for me and massage!

Emi had always faced me, and prefers to keep herself front-forward to protect her sensitive areas and police my contact with her. But at her last appointment, I tried a new approach with basic TTouch techniques and she approved of the change!

TTouch is a non-habitual light touch method that helped Emi feel more safe and relaxed as compared to my usual extra gentle Swedish-based techniques. When she turned her back to me and laid down on the couch right in front of me, it felt like a stamp of approval to continue on both with her treatment, and also with my training in TTouch for massage.

I can't wait to see how her journey continues to progress. 😍

This may look like a dead bug, but it's in fact Tully after his very first massage! He's a crazy mix of pit bull, husky, rottweiler, and chow chow 🀯

His joints, especially in his front legs, are getting stiffer with age. So his owner has started getting him massages to help him stay limber and active. Massage increases the circulation of fresh blood in (and waste lymph out) of the muscle fibers and surrounding fascia. And he totally loved the attention of the massage, and the relaxed feelings that came along with it!

Sam says "Stop taking notes and photos, and keep rubbing my chest!" This impatient boy always wants complete, undivided attention and he deserves it!

(But I do have to write some notes down still buddy)

Dot the siamese often comes to see if she can steal Nessa's massage, and Nessa doesn't normally love the intrusion. But today she was feeling the spirit of generosity and they had the sweetest relaxation time together 😍
