On Saturdays, we share fun facts and photos of our adorable staff pets!

Today, we say hello to the purrfect Kuro! He is the pet of Rachael, one of our DAs/hospital assistants! 🐾

Q: Tell us the story of how you and your pet(s) became a fur-ever family!

A: As I was rolling down my window to order at a drive-thru, I heard tiny mews

coming from a bush. Inside the bush was a smol void, just a few weeks old. I took this adorable kitten home and we have been inseparable since. 🖤

Q: What kind of animal are they and how old are they?

A: Kuro is an all-black Domestic Shorthair, confirmed with DNA test results showcasing his variety of background. Kuro is eternal but he has been on this Earth for about 5 years. 🌎

Q: What are their favorite treats?

A: Kuro only likes treats when he’s not supposed to have them (classic cat vibes).  This tends to result in him tearing open a treat bag and eating only a couple of them in the dead of night but somehow leaving behind the biggest mess. 🌪

Q: What is their favorite toy?

A: Kuro loves this crinkly, shiny gold mouse toy with a green tail. He also enjoys his stuffed carrot shaped toys. 🐁

Q: Tell us about a memorable moment you and your pet shared.

A: The moment we made eye contact as he lay helplessly with his paw stuck in the halfway-opened screen door, resolving the household dispute about who was leaving the door open, thus letting the cat out. We had to child lock the screen door from that day forward. 🕵

On Mondays, we showcase a member of our staff with pictures and a brief bio.

Today, we say hello to Rachael! She is a DA/hospital assistant here at the clinic and has been working here for 2 years. She has worked a variety of positions here and also comes with plenty of pet sitting experience! 🐾

Rachael's coworkers love her sweet, caring energy (and all of the awesome tricks she teaches Lex, one of the staff pets!). 😎

Read below for her Q&A and be sure to say "hi" next time you see her! 👋

Q: What is your favorite part about Fremont Veterinary Clinic?

A: I love the family-like environment we have created, the amazing people I have met, and the life-long friends I've made during my time here. I appreciate all the opportunities that Fremont Vet has given me to learn and practice my skills in order to advance my career. 🍎

Q: What pets do you have at home?

A: I currently have one black cat named Kuro! I found him in a bush about 5 years ago and we have been inseparable ever since. 🖤🐾

Q: What’s your favorite color?

A: Light purple!

Q: What are some hobbies you have outside of work?

A: I love to explore the PNW, going for hikes, and finding places to enjoy the water with friends. I also enjoy playing tennis and video games! 🎾🎮

Q: What is one of your favorite things about living in the Pacific Northwest?

A: I love being able to look in any direction and seeing a beautiful mountain range. There is such a wide variety of beauty that the natural landscapes offer here like the incredible trees, coasts, and wildlife. I also love the diversity of personalities people have here.🗻💚

On Saturdays, we share fun facts and photos of our adorable staff pets!

Today, we say hello to the purrfect Tobias Sweet Pea, which is the family pet of Ginny, one of our DAs! We are also showcasing Ginny’s lovely garden because she does not yet have pets of her own but tends to her plant babies with great care! 💚

Q: Tell us the story of how you and your pet(s) became a fur-ever family!

A: While I don’t have a pet, I adore my parents’ cat Tobias Sweet Pea! Over this last summer, Toby started to appear frequently in my parents’ garden. They learned that his former owner lived a few doors down but was often traveling and looking to rehome him. So my parents welcomed Toby into their home and he became a part of the family! 🐾

I look forward to having my own pet one day. In the meantime, I cherish all of the time I get to spend with all the animals at the clinic! And in my free time, I love to take care of my plant babies! 🌿🤗

Q: What kind of animal are they and how old are they?

A: Toby is an adorable cat, assumed to be about 6 years old. 🐱

Q: What are their favorite treats?

A: My plants love any sunlight they can get here and a consistent watering schedule! 🌞💙

Q: What is their favorite toy?

A: It’s not a toy but an activity that Toby enjoys. He has recently started to bring my parents “gifts.” He likes to catch mice and let them run around loose in the house so he can continue to chase them inside. My parents have had to catch several mice and release them back outside. Now Toby has to get checked before he comes inside to make sure he isn’t bringing in any friends. 🐁

Q: Tell us about a memorable moment you and your pet(s) shared.

A: Toby being welcomed into my parents’ home was memorable for all of us. As for my garden, I was able to grow a lot of produce over the summer like tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, and lettuce! Gardening brings me lots of joy and I'm a proud plant parent! 🍅🥒🥗

On Saturdays, we share fun facts and photos of our adorable staff pets!

Today, we say hello to the pawsome Kara and Krypto, along with the purrfect Murphy! They are the adorable pets of Katrina, one of our ASVAs. 🐾

Q: Tell us the story of how you and your pet(s) became a fur-ever family!

A: Kara's story is that I was searching on Petfinder and I saw a beautiful white dog with blue eyes and I just knew I had to have her. She is from Texas, so that was a harrowing 3 day drive from there in the snow. Krypto's story is that I saw the cutest little puppy on the Family Dogs New Life website and I went in to meet him which led to him coming home with us. Murphy's story is that my spouse's coworker had a pregnant cat that we took in and Murphy was one of her kittens. 🏡 🚗 🐾

Q: What kind of animal are they and how old are they?

A: Kara is a 3 year old boxer mix (that's what we were told). Krypto is a 7 year old German Shepherd mix. Murphy is a 19 year old domestic medium hair cat.

Q: What are their favorite treats?

A: Kara and Krypto like all kinds of treats, but they have agreed that freeze dried chicken is the best. Murphy's favorite treat is probably Churus. 😋

Q: What is their favorite toy?

A: Kara's favorite toy right now is the turkey leg toy from Barkbox because it has a good handle and she can swing it around. Krypto's favorite toy is a salad themed toy that he got from Barkbox and it is just the right size for him. Murphy's favorite toy is a shoelace (classic cat vibes). 😆

Q: Tell us about a memorable moment you and your pet(s) shared.

A: Kara's most memorable moment would be when she was dropped off at my work right after her drive up from Texas and she was so happy to meet everyone! My most memorable moment with Krypto is the one time he was playing in the incredibly muddy backyard with my son when they were both young. I heard a knock on the back sliding door, looked outside, and saw a 5 yr old and a 6 month old puppy standing there covered in mud from head to toe! Murphy's most memorable moment was when she was a baby because she looked like a little ewok!.
