Service Dog Awareness: Understanding Rights & Respect
Service dogs are more than just companions—they are vital lifelines for individuals with disabilities. Yet, many people still face barriers when trying to access public spaces with their service dogs, even in places where the law is clear.
This recent case of an Atlanta veteran being denied entry to his doctor’s appointment highlights the ongoing need for awareness and education. Fortunately, the law was upheld, but no one should have to fight for their rights just to receive medical care.

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service dogs are allowed in all public spaces, including hospitals and clinics. These highly trained dogs provide essential support, from guiding those with visual impairments to assisting with mobility or medical conditions.
