Why We Require a Bath with Grooming – The Truth Beneath the Fur

When we first started grooming 18 years ago, we allowed clients to skip the bath if they requested it. But we quickly learned that even though we were giving people what they asked for, they were often upset with the results. Why? Because they couldn’t imagine just how much dirt, oil, and debris was hidden beneath their cat’s coat.

A cat’s fur acts like a filter, trapping oil, dust, and environmental particles against the skin. When we brush or shave a cat without a bath, all that buildup is lifted to the surface—like sand and grit—and remains in the coat. The result? A cat that looks dirtier than before!

This is exactly why we require a bath with grooming. It’s not just about aesthetics—it’s necessary for your cat’s hygiene and health. A proper bath removes the debris, conditions the skin, and leaves the coat truly clean.
