I am so sad to tell you that our friend Finn has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 15 lb Finian had a very big personality. A kid once asked me if he was a miniature golden retriever and we have called him an honorary golden retriever ever since. I will remember Finn as the bravest dog I have ever known. Not because he was fearless, because he was afraid of everything. But because he did it anyway. Every time he jumped in my car he was frightened. The pack learned to comfort him. Maude would extend her leg so he could sit on it. Charlie would let him sit between his front legs like a Mini Me.
Although Finn was not a natural swimmer, one day he pushed off and paddled to the island to join his pack. I was so glad I got a picture because no one would believe me otherwise.
Finn has been defying all the odds with cancer for a couple of years. He showed up for every adventure and even scammed treats off of his park friends with an “I am on chemo, give me treats.” bandanna.
That little loudmouthed honorary golden retriever left a very big mark on this world and it's been a little too quiet since he left. My condolences to his wonderful family who loved that little guy so much. Thank you for sharing him with all of us!
