Friends of Willis the Weather Dog -

It's Mary here with some devastating news. Willis has left us.

He passed away peacefully after fighting for 261 days against failing kidneys.

Years ago, my husband said to me, "I really want a little Schnauzer named Willis. Every time he barks, I can say, 'Whatchoo talkin' 'bout Willis?'"

I searched and found Willis in 2009 in Goldendale, Washington. He had never really seen grass, and didn't know what to do. BUT he adjusted quickly and loved going on walks.

In 2011 we added Lucy to the pack, and they were inseparable. Sadly, we lost her to cancer November 13, 2022.

When Willis became the Weather Dog, he turned into a very serious guy. He knew he had an important job. He LOVED going to work every Saturday morning; even whined as we drove into the lot. He was so excited. In the studio he was ALWAYS on his best behavior.

He had opportunities for public appearances through his career, modeling at fundraisers, speaking about his social media presence, etc.; and met plenty of well-known people.

In his off hours he loved spending time outdoors, especially this past Summer on the deck. His favorite places were the car, and Cannon Beach.

He fought hard when he first became sick with Pancreatitis in 2020, then last May, we thought he had lost the fight against his failing kidneys. He fooled us all and popped out of the ER just in time for Mother's Day.

Since then he had a daily regimen of medications and treatments to keep him going. AND he was STILL happy and having a blast. He made it to his 13th birthday in August. He LOVED Christmas so MUCH, he couldn't miss his 14th this year.

But in the end he was tired, and ready for a rest.

I have TWO new cat cousins! They arrived around Christmas, so I sent them their present a little late. (See pic)

Mabel (grey) & Millie (orange) really seem to love their new “Izakaya!”

Although my Aunt & Uncle say there have been a lot of “bar fights” already! 😂

My friend and neighbor, Zelda, has decided it was her time to leave her HooMomma.

She was an amazing English Bulldog, & face of her company. She worked hard & made so many people happy.

We will certainly miss her in the neighborhood. And we know her HooMomma is feeling like we still do. 💔

Woo Hoo! Did some last minute Christmas shopping (for myself 😂) at my favorite store, PetSmart !

Ran into this nice lady, her name is Darcy.

Her person said I was brave because I said, “Hello!” He said most dogs my size are afraid to do that because she’s so big!

What a weekend!!

First we celebrated HooDad’s birthday, then I got to open some Christmas presents early (I love to open presents!), and then Uncle Matt Johnson showed up, & we went to the beach.

The two of us hung out a bit, too.

Did I mention one set of my Grandpawrents was here, too? Yep!

Then we all went to see some lights at The Grotto!

Wagged a lot this weekend!

What a phenomenal Friday!

1: Trip to the mall!! For this shopaholic, it’s pretty great! I get to see and do stuff from the safety & comfort of my sling!

2: Met my new friend, Lorenzo the Italian Greyhound. The cool thing is we are BOTH allowed to be at the dog friendly store, Warby Parker! Just had to wait a bit while HooDad got fitted for his new glasses. 👍

3: Ending the evening back at home with snacks by the fire! My favorite spot!

I have lost my partner in crime, fun & food. 🥺

We NEVER expected Lucy would go so soon. She has been the tough one her whole life! Weathering vasculitis, most recently Melanoma.

But no, some other cancer (or that) metastasized, & she’s gone in an instant.

11 years was NOT enough time.

We will miss her energy, antics, humor & sass. She will NEVER be replaced.

My girlfriend Marge stopped to see me on my walk today!
She sometimes gets to go to work with her HooDad, Lance.
We were so excited to see each other! I wagged! She wagged a lot more!! (She has more of a tail than I do!)
She’s a Schnorkie (Schnauzer/Yorkie)! Isn’t she cute? Lots of personality!
I ❤️ her, so I gave her a big kiss!
