We specialize in healthy pet food and supplements made with natural ingredients for dogs and cats. Our in-house veterinarian and dedicated category team search for high-quality choices that will support the overall health of individual dogs and cats, no matter what their need

The recent rapid spread of HPAI in bird flocks and dairy herds throughout the country has increased the risk to cats. Over the past two months, four cats have died from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) that may be connected to consumption of poultry-based raw frozen cat food. Wild Coast Pet Foods has voluntarily recalled Feline Free-Range Chicken with the Best By Date 12/25 and the Lot Codes #22660, #22653, #22641, #22639, #22672 and #22664. To reduce the risk of HPAI in cats, Mud Bay has temporarily stopped recommending and selling the following products for cats:

▪️ All raw frozen cat products that contain poultry meat, raw milk or uncooked eggs;

▪️ All freeze-dried cat products that contain poultry meat, raw milk or uncooked eggs—except those that have been cooked to a temperature of 165 degrees or higher.

No dog is known to have become ill from HPAI connected to dog food, and we have made no changes in our nutritional recommendations for dogs. We continue to monitor HPAI closely, and we will not offer products for sale unless and until we are confident of their safety.

The recent rapid spread of HPAI in bird flocks and dairy herds throughout the country has increased the risk to cats. Over the past two months, three cats have died from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) that may be connected to consumption of poultry-based raw frozen cat food. These cats did contract HPAI, but there is not definitive evidence that the manufacturers of the foods they were eating produced products that contained HPAI. To reduce the risk of HPAI in cats, we have temporarily stopped recommending and selling the following products for cats:

▪️ All raw frozen cat products that contain poultry meat, raw milk or uncooked eggs;

▪️ All freeze-dried cat products that contain poultry meat, raw milk or uncooked eggs — except those that have been cooked to a temperature of 165 degrees or higher.

No dog is known to have become ill from HPAI connected to dog food, and we have made no changes in our nutritional recommendations for dogs. We continue to research HPAI, and we’ll provide additional updates if there are changes in the evidence or our recommendations.

Over the past two months the deaths of three cats have been attributed to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) contained in poultry-based raw frozen cat food.

To reduce the risk of HPAI in cats, we have temporarily stopped recommending and selling the following products for cats:

Our Story

Elsa Wulff opened the doors of the first Mud Bay store in 1988 believing two things: People should feel welcomed and happy they visited, and she had a duty to graciously help everyone who came to the store—even if it didn’t result in a sale.

What began as a single store opened by Elsa just outside Olympia, Washington, is now the largest pet retailer headquartered in the Pacific Northwest. And we’re still tightly focused on creating a culture that makes all feel welcome, while creating a helpful experience for everyone who visits us.Our responsibility to be gracious doesn’t stop at our customers—we also want the best for our people, too. That’s why we’ve worked together to create an employee stock ownership plan to contribute to a meaningful career and secure financial future for all Muddies. And today, the people who work at Mud Bay continually make the commitment to one another to build a strong, lasting company we’re all proud to work for.
