Winter News at GANW
Canine Respiratory Illness
We wanted to address recent concerns regarding the canine respiratory illness reported in our area among a very small percentage of the dog population.
At Grooming Arts Northwest, we are closely monitoring the situation and are taking proactive measures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for your pets. Our facility is designed to minimize contact between dogs, with each dog having their own separate treatment room during their visit. Additionally, we do not accept pets that are showing signs of illness.
Here are some key points to ease your concerns:
1. Limited Interaction: Dogs are groomed in separate rooms to minimize contact, reducing the risk of transmission. Our facility is one of the only salons in Oregon with individual treatment rooms, which greatly minimizes these kinds of risks. We also operate at about 1/3 the capacity of other salons that are similar in size to us.
2. Prompt Pickups: Our facility has no holding rooms, meaning dogs are picked up immediately after grooming, further reducing the likelihood of exposure. We continue to require prompt drop off and pick-ups for all pets.
3. Sanitation Practices: We continue to maintain our rigorous sanitation protocols in all common areas to uphold a clean and hygienic environment.
4. Health Screening: We do not accept dogs showing signs of illness and kindly request clients to reschedule if their pets are unwell.
We understand that the news may be causing anxiety for some, and we want to assure you that your pets' well-being is our top priority. While we acknowledge the presence of this illness in a very small percentage of our community, we want to emphasize that, based on current information, OregonVMA.org is only suggesting caution rather than worry. The local veterinary community is actively monitoring the situation and providing guidance.
We appreciate your trust in us to care for your beloved pets. If you would like to reschedule or postpone your appointment, we would ask for as much notice as possible with a mimimum of 48 hours whenever possible. We are committed to the health and safety of all pets, and we appreciate your understanding. For more information, please contact your vet or oregonvma.org.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards,
