A dear client pup of 5 years (since he was a baby) passed away today. Very unexpected medical issue… I just spent joyful time with him on Tuesday. I’ve seen him weekly for 5 years, and had Thanksgiving dinner snacks with him and our holiday pack, because he would stay with me when his family traveled. He’s a part of the family, as are all of my dear clients. Feeling the epic ache and wrapping his family in love on this very hard day. It’s easy to forget that our time here is incredibly precious... 💗🙏🐾

Sweet Bandit has been my client and friend for... 9 years. He left the earth and it leaves me in tears after holding him and his dear family in my life for so many years. Love you, little one. Got this today, “Hi Micaela, hope life is treating you well. We stayed home this spring and summer to spend time with Bandit. He had a great summer! He left us on his next journey last Thursday. I want to thank you for all the help watching him over the years and all the love you gave him. As I’ve said, I couldn’t have enjoyed my vacations without you. It will be a while before we get another fur son but you will be the first person we call to watch them. Thanks again 🥰”

I had the joy and honor of doing a board and train with sweet Poppy at 8 weeks of age. She is from Labradoodles at Trails End and we had the best training time. Her family treasures her and has done ALL of the homework and continued training. She just turned 2 and she stays with me when they travel. I’m so lucky to build these life-long relationships. What a gem baby! I simply adore her 🥰💗🙏🐾

I’m so deeply honored to have provided a board & train to Russell from Bedrock Labradoodles (many years ago) and then years later receive a call to board & train Harry from Beaver State Labradoodles. What an absolute privaledge to be a part of this amazing family’s journey. Luckiest pups on the planet to have such a loving family. These pups are so fantastic! 🥰🙏🫶🏻🐾😭🤩

Gently sharing this girl’s story while gently leaning into finding her an amazing forever home. She will remain mine until I find the perfect place… she is welcome here, but my preference is to give her a one-on-one family since I have other pups and she would love more cuddles.
Her family of 7 years retired and essentially abandoned her. Female, Red Lab, 7 years young. Loves fetch, cuddles, being outside. Some leash reactivity, great pet for home that’s not busy with kids. Ideally, 1-2 parent household who is looking for a companion heart. Ok with some dogs, prefers mellow life, walks great on leash. Only very serious inquiries reviewed.

Behind the Scenes for Those Curious: 🐾💓

A lot of clients call me with specific goals/expectations/wishes for their life/dog. Sometimes, being honest and ethical and science-based means I have to share hard news/recommendations. It’s not at all easy for my heart, and sometimes I upset people. I’m not always treasured for posing difficult questions and being a stand for the happiness of both dog/human. I take this work/mission to serve very seriously…

In this sweet case, a prospective client called to get advice on how to find a dog. After a complimentary phone call unpacking goals, lifestyle, future plans, I advised this client not to get a dog at this time and wait until they move in a year to be with grandchildren. It was a very emotional call. Today I received this:

“Dear Micaela,

Thank you for reaching out and calling me on Tuesday. Even though your news was something I didn’t want to hear, I feel grateful for your kindness and for sharing insight into what I would be asking a dog to cope with by rushing ahead now, and then moving him/her into a very different family structure.

I’ve spent some time breathing and meditating on your advice and have come to a lot more peace and acceptance with it. Thank you for pointing out a more sensible direction.
