Today, ODA and the USDA Animal Plant Health Inspection Service confirmed the state’s 5th detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in a non-commercial flock in Deschutes County.

The affected flock included approximately 30 chickens and 40 ducks and geese.

Because the owners sold their eggs to the public, the USDA classifies the birds as a poultry flock rather than a backyard flock, meaning a regional quarantine is required. The quarantine encompasses the city of Bend and much of the outlying area.

Death or illness among domestic birds should be reported as ODA. Please report by calling 503-986-4711 (Alt Phone: 1-800-347-7028).

I'm not a huge advocate for h**p oil, but I recently learned of this product that has actual studies behind the recommended dosages. They also test it for absence of contaminants, % of phytocannabinoids and less than 0.3% THC. So, if your looking for a product, I recommend Chroniquin.

After our outside time Louise has learned to wait semi-patiently to have her harness removed. Watch till the end for a trick!

Patio time has helped immensely with Louise’s confidence. She has really become accustomed to most of the noises and was exploring today rather than dragging me back to the front door. She is also getting better with wearing the harness.

Louise’s 2nd exposure to the outdoors:
She still hates the harness, but is moving better in it.
She was exposed to a dog playing, barking, 2 adult humans, a screaming small human, cars and a helicopter.
She was given treats for her small to non-reactions.
She was much more comfortable and only clingy when she encountered something unexpected.

Meet Louise the adventure cat in training! She is originally from Louisiana, is about 1 and we’re really not sure about her history. She is a snuggler, but definitely has a wild streak. She’s intelligent and doesn’t seem to be too familiar with “outside”… or harness wearing. So, we are slowly getting her acclimated to both the harness and the outdoors. Today she made it to the second step!

Dental health intervention isn’t just to make your and your furry friend’s breath smell better. There is evidence that periodontal disease affects other organs and, according to this article, it is “implicated as contributing to or perhaps even causing some of the damage associated with Alzheimer's” Disease; the canine equivalent being Canine Cognitive Dysfunction.

In dogs the health of teeth and gums is related to canine cognitive dysfunction.
