As you prepare for Easter celebrations, remember that many holiday traditions can pose serious risks to your curious pets!

🧺 Easter Basket Hazards:
- Artificial grass (Easter grass) can cause intestinal blockages if ingested
- Plastic eggs may be chewed and swallowed, creating choking hazards
- Small toys and decorations can become lodged in throats or digestive tracts
- Foil wrappers from chocolates can cause obstructions if eaten

🍫 Dangerous Easter Treats:
- Chocolate contains theobromine, which is toxic to dogs and cats
- Xylitol in sugar-free candies is extremely dangerous for pets
- Raisins in hot cross buns can cause kidney failure in dogs
- Fatty ham scraps can trigger pancreatitis

🌷 Hazardous Plants:
- Easter lilies are HIGHLY TOXIC to cats - even small amounts can cause kidney failure
- Daffodils, tulips, and hyacinths can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and cardiac issues
- Potted plants with fertilizers may contain harmful chemicals

🐣 Safe Alternatives:
- Create pet-friendly Easter baskets with approved dog/cat treats
- Use paper shreds instead of plastic grass in displays
- Keep all festivities and egg hunts in pet-free zones
- Offer appropriate pet toys as distractions during gatherings

- Skip raw milk: Raw milk products may also pose a transmission risk
- Keep cats indoors when possible: This limits exposure to wild birds that might carry the virus

Even our sweetest, most loving pets can become frightened and unpredictable when they're hurt. This April, let's talk about pet safety! Pain and fear can change their behavior, making it crucial to handle injured pets with extra care and caution. Keep both you and your furry friend safe by:

- Resist the urge to hug them (we know it's hard!)
- Always keep your face away from their mouth
- Don't try to move them alone - get help when possible

Remember: An injured pet may not recognize their own family members when they're scared and in pain. Your safety matters, too! Seek emergency vet care immediately if your pet is injured. 🐾
