OHS offers a wide variety of services from pet adoption, training, humane law enforcement, veterinary care, humane education, and disaster response. OHS puts no time limits on how long animals remain at the shelter—a pet stays availa

ble for adoption as long as needed to find a loving home. If a pet in our care needs medical attention, the medical team provides that pet with the same level of care you would want your own pet to receive.

We love this glimpse into just an average dog walking shift for an Oregon Humane Society volunteer. 😍🐶🙌

These shifts can include walking shelter dogs on the dog path, taking them for some time in a chip yard or an outdoor run, and of course, snuggle time. ❤️

Each activity gives the shelter dogs something that’s good for them!

🦮Physical exercise + mental enrichment with all of the smells on the dog path

🎾 Playtime to get more wiggles out

❤️ Cuddling for one on one time to bond with their human friends

This boy has been working with in our Behavior Modification program. He has had time to come out of his shell and show his goofy personality.

Now, he’s looking for an adopter who will give him the time and patience to blossom in a new environment. 🌸

Lily arrived at Oregon Humane Society Portland campus as a shy kitty who had some litterbox misuse.

She became a candidate for the Behavior Modification program and worked with the trainers at the Behavior and Rescue Center. In no time, she acclimated and opened up. Lily needed consistency in her schedule and a calm environment. When she received those, she didn't have litterbox issues for several weeks in the BMOD program.

Lily found an adopter who could provide that same consistency for her. 😻 ❤️ "Lily is doing so amazing, she just doesn't cease to amaze us with how calm and loving she is. Another sweet habit she has picked up is that she almost always waits at the door for us when we go out on walks, and then she warmly head butts the doggy when we return," says Lily's adopter.

Almond Joy was transferred to campus from Marion County Dog Services.

Staff and volunteers were noticing resource guarding behavior from her. She also had a lot of energy that needed to be channeled. This is where our trainers at the Behavior and Rescue Center stepped in.

Almond Joy's time spent in the Behavior Modification Program has included learning how to regulated her emotions when she's very excited. While physical exercise is important, mental stimulation is just as important for her.

Almond Joy getting enrichment activities and learning how to settle, is all possible because of your support. When you register and fundraise for , you're helping shelter pets who need extra time before finding a loving home. 🏡

Not only can our shelter doggos enjoy the beautiful walking paths on both the Portland and campuses, there are also chip yards available to get fresh air and playtime! 🎾🐶

More than 100 shelter animals are safe on the ground at Oregon Humane Society after working in partnership with Greater Good Charities and Southwest Airlines for an emergency airlift out of Los Angeles.

We didn't know much about Sally the black kitty when she arrived at Oregon Humane Society. She spent much of her first week nervous and hiding in her bed. Overtime, she began to relax with the help of treats, patience, and our training team at the Behavior and Rescue Center.

She needed a family that had the time and desire to let her acclimate to her new home on her own time. Sally found just that in her new family, including her kitty brother. 😻 👏 ❤️

"She absolutely loves her brother and follows him everywhere, always wanting to cuddle. They play together all the time. She’s definitely comfortable with us, and we’re so happy to have her as part of our family! Thank you so much for your support and for introducing us to our sweet girl. We already love her so much!", says Sally's adopters.
