Happy February! Love is in the air, and so is snow, so who better to have as our next featured friend than someone who LOVES the snow? Meet Sundae Soup, an almost 2-year-old (happy early birthday Sundae!) border collie mix who is a shining example of the difference love and a little hard work can make in a dog’s life. We can’t wait to tell you all about her!

The day Sundae joined her family was one of mixed emotions. For mom, it was love at first sight when she crawled across the floor to play ball. Not to mention laughter, as miss Sundae decided to perch herself on the center console for the entire ride home instead of a seat or even a lap like most dogs. She’s been dancing to the beat of her own drum since day one, that’s for sure. For her brother Moose, it was…less love more burning hatred. Sundae also had to deal with transitioning from her life on a farm in the middle of no where to city life. Thankfully, however, her and Moose are now the best of friends, and she’s settled into her new life just fine.

Maine is the perfect place for miss Sundae aka Sundae Soup, Soup. Stink, Girly, Menace, or Soupness. She loves nothing more than being outside, exploring the many different trails Maine has to offer. Especially if it’s snowy or muddy. This girl truly lives for adventure and getting dirty. Mom once took her on a a multi hour hike and while mom struggled to get to the top, but Sundae kept running straight up the mountain and back down to her as if to show her it wasn’t actually that hard. Keep up, mom!

When she can’t be out leaving her mom in the dust on the trails, of course she loves coming to Roscoe’s! When asked what she loves most, this is what her mom had to say: “Surprisingly enough, the people. I say surprisingly because she is stranger reactive, but she quite literally jumps for joy when she sees her Roscoe humans (and for Kelli she even tinkles herself).”

We at Roscoe’s have to pause to give mom a HUGE shout out for all of the amazing work mom Addy has done with Sundae. As mentioned above, Sundae does struggle with being a reactive dog. But the love her mom has for her, and the work she’s put in to helping her navigate these struggles, has truly made all the difference in the world. In the hands of someone less driven, it would have been easy for a dog like Sundae to end up in a bad situation. We’re extremely proud to have both Addy and Sundae as part of the Roscoe’s family.

In the wonderful words of her mom: “Having a reactive dog is obviously not what I signed up for, but I don’t regret it in the slightest. Sundae has changed my life in many ways and taught me so much. I’m so thankful for my unique and occasionally spicy girl. (Dad wanted me to mention that even with all that I do for Soup, she still prefers her dad over me🙄)”

We love you so much Sundae Soup, and we can’t wait to spend many more weird and wonderful days with you in the years to come!

“Sundae is one of my favorite ladies. She is such a sweet girl once she warms up to you and knows you. I am so happy that this selective girl loves me and snuggles with me, because I love her so much. Soup is smart, silly, ball-obsessed, and always happy to do anything and everything with you. She has come such a long way in reactivity training with her mom since I first met her, it is honestly remarkable, and I could not be more proud of them both. It is the highlight of my week taking her on nature walks with her mom, Addy, and her bestie, Jellybean. She is always down for an adventure, especially if it involves snow or mud. Having her in VIP at Roscoe’s makes my day, watching her run around with her favorite friends, or—of course—play with a ball. I’m looking forward to more fetch sessions and walks with Soupy, and to introduce her to my new puppy this month! “

Happy New Year! A time for reflection, resolutions, and our remarkable next Featured Friend! If your resolution is to be more positive this year, Scrappy is a shining example for us all to follow. This little 2.5 year old Bichon-Terrier mix is happiness personified, and we can’t wait to tell you more about him!

There isn’t a day that Scrappy joins us here at Roscoe’s that isn’t filled with joy. Ask anyone here and they will tell you “Scrappy loves to run behind the desk every morning that he comes in; he has to say his hellos to all of us”. Every step he takes is filled with pep, and you can definitely see it in his very expressive ears as they bounce with his jubilation.

He is equally happy to snuggle with his human friends as he is zooming around with his doggy pals. Scrappy does a mix of Core and VIP, but he most often can be found in our VIP program where he enjoys a more relaxed environment with lots of human time!

When Scrappy isn’t having a blast with all his dog and human friends here at Roscoe’s, he loves to go on long walks at Evergreen Cemetery with his friends or play ball. In fact, his absolute favorite toy is his purple spikey ball. Though he’s not a fan of the ocean, he still loves living in Maine where he can run around in the woods to his heart’s content.

Scrappy, AKA Scraps, Scrapper, Tiny, Tiny Man, and Monkey is truly a joy, and we can’t wait to spend much more time with him in this new year!
