Our very own hometown pup will be participating on Team Ruff - the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland's Tula! Tula is a husky/Pyrenees mix. Tune in to the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet to cheer on Tula!

Meet this week's featured cat: Queso, the orange tabby who fancies joining the circus as an escape artist. Read all about this magnificent feline!

"What's the most embarrassing thing your human has done to you?"
🐱: Hmmmm that’s a tough one! I’d say when they put me in a blue sweater that said “Winter Bod”, I was EMBARRASSED. I think I may have turned a darker shade of orange that day!!

"If you could have dinner with any famous pet, who would it be and why?"
🐱: GARFIELD! He is my idol, not only does he get to have human food all the time (lasagna), but have you seen his bright orange coat?!

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
🐱: I’d definitely want to join the circus, I’m the best escape artist around! I can literally get out of anywhere and anything. My humans are astonished every time.

"If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?"
🐱: Levitation because then I could get to the treats without making tons of noise and alerting my owners of the shenanigans happening.

"If you could be any other animal, which would you be?"
🐱: None! I love being a cat. If you didn’t know already, we’re quite the cuties!

"Who is your best friend?"
🐱: My sister, Gyn. We both grew up in the farm area of Pennsylvania. We didn’t get along at first, but now I can’t be without her. Where she goes, I go too!

"Who is your celebrity doppelgänger?"
🐱: The one and only Garfield, duh!

"Do you have any quirks?"
🐱: I like to sit at my food bowl and paw at it even when there’s food in it! You’d never guess it, but I may have been a duck in another life because I sure know how to quack.

"What are your special talents?"
🐱: I’m the best hide and seek player. No matter how hard my humans look, they can never find me unless I want to be found.

"What's your favorite thing to do with your human(s)?"
🐱: I love to snuggle with my Mama even though she says I take up too much room; I like to stretch out as much as possible.

"What is your biggest fear?"
🐱: Running out of food!

Heather is looking for a foster or foster to adopt!

Friends, we have a very special girl in need of a foster/foster to adopt home. She was neglected by her previous owner and became heartworm positive. Her amazing medical foster has had her since October and it is time for her to move to the next phase of her journey. We need a quiet home for Ms. Locklear. Someone who has a yard or can take her on chill leash walks. Someone who enjoys cuddling and helping this gal recover from a rough bump in the road. BnR's Rock n' Rescue will cover all expenses. "What's the most embarrassing thing your human has done to you?"
🐱: My mom dressed me as Toothless, from How to Train Your Dragon! I assure you I am NOT toothless…it lasted 2 minutes.

"If you could have dinner with any famous pet, who would it be and why?"
🐱: I would love to have dinner with Jiji, from Kiki’s Delivery Service. He lives above a bakery and I LOVE baked goods!

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
🐱: A cooking show host! I love watching my mom and dad cook.

"If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?"
🐱: I would love to be able to fly… to get at those pesky birds at our feeder!

"If you could be any other animal, which would you be?"
🐱: A falcon! Super fast and with wings? Sign me up - the birds wouldn’t stand a chance!

"Who is your best friend?"
🐱: My mom and dad… I’m an equal opportunity girl.

"Who is your celebrity doppelgänger?"
🐱: Catwoman, especially Julie Newman and Eartha Kitt.

"Do you have any quirks?"
🐱: Oh yes, I am OBSESSED with green vegetables. Green beans, asparagus, and broccoli are my absolute favorite treats.

🐱: I am an expert problem solver and can be quite the cat burglar.

"What's your favorite thing to do with your human(s)?"
🐱: Playing with wand toys is my hobby. I bring the wands to my mom when I want to play. I am a super high jumper.

🐱: Not getting my breakfast or dinner on time!!!

Meet this week's featured dog: Maxwell, an unusually reflective canine. He enjoys solitude, contemplating philosophical dilemmas, and of course, sniffing and treats:

"If you could have dinner with any famous pet, who would it be and why?"
🐶: Of course, Lump, Picasso’s famous dachshund friend. Featured in much of his art, Lump got to me the few humans I find interesting, Sartre, Camus, de Beauvoir, and Kafka.

"Who is your celebrity doppelgänger?"
🐶: Though strangers often call me “stoic”, I really see myself more like Sisyphus, chasing a tail I’ll never catch, and finding happiness in the absurdity of my efforts.

"What are your quirks?"
🐶: I am the happiest of dogs, and am clearly at my happiest without a crowd. In public, I have little interest in strangers, humans and dogs alike, but at home when the door is closed I am the sweetest and most loving of animals.

"Do you have any special talents?"
🐶: My penchant for solitude makes me a dog that all dogs want to play with and all humans want to pet.

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
🐶: I have achieved all that I’d like to become. I spend time sitting. I walk. I sniff. And I ponder the futility of our existence while humans lay treats at my feet.

"Who is your best friend?"
🐶: My human is nudging me to say her, though my best friend is first dog to Boston’s Park 9, or the first Fish & Bone employee to ask my person, “can I give him a treat?”

"If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?"
🐶: I am a dog. I would like super scent. I would like super hearing. And I would like all geese to fear me. Though in these matters, I am already super.

"If you weren't a dog, which animal would you be?"
🐶: Having seen the Lion King, the solitude and wisdom found in certain baboon species, I find quite enticing. Far from the needy grips of humanity, spending time with nature and with quiet.

"What's your favorite thing to do with your human?"
🐶: When forced to spend time with my people, I most prefer being brought along on pet store runs or to our near-daily dog bar visits.

"What's your biggest fear?"
🐶: I fear nothing. For I trudge through this city knowing that leaning in to the absurdity of our existence is my only solace. But technically I do get fearful at the idea of finding an empty bulk bin of beef liver at Fish & Bone, for that is a void no philosophy can fill.

"What's the most embarrassing thing your human has done to you?"
🐶: I suppose creating an Instagram for me would have been the most embarrassing thing my people have done to me. But as it turned out, I quite enjoy the platform for the audience it gives me of good boys and girls across the world to express what we all are thinking.
