Happy Spring 🌸🌼🌹🌺🌷💐 It's time for some clinics!

Clinics are important for both trainer and student. We cannot know everything, but pursuing other views and teaching styles will help us grow exponentially!

Taking a deep dive into the seat and position without the distraction from a moving horse is something we can all benefit from to improve the partnership with our horse. 🐴💕
One of the most common position corrections that I make is for a rider leaning back. The connection in the saddle that is gained when the rider is in better alignment brings on many "Oh, wow!" moments. 💡
I love helping riders find better balance and a deeper connection to their horse. 🌠

The importance of being able to move one foot at a time is often overlooked. Balance and stability come with these very intentional, small movements. When we started this work, Solo was a wiggle-worm and all feet moved at the slightest distraction. He has learned to manage his movement and also manage his emotional state. 👏 Bravo, you beautiful boy!

🐴 Horses deserve to be trained with the most ethical methods. We have to continually work to improve our riding and horsemanship skills to ensure that we are positively affecting their health. Training from Back to Front always ~ no excuses or shortcuts 🦄

Thank you, Amy Skinner Horsemanship, for this! 🩵 Forever grateful to the clinic hosts who do all the juggling so that Agi can just show up and teach! Without your dedication to organizing these clinics, Agi could not bring this work to so many people in the horse community! Sincerest appreciation for all of you!

Clinic hosts - the unsung heroes

The clinician draws the crowd, and can leave impact far and wide for the better if they do their job right. But none of it would possible without the host.

They put countless hours of work into organizing, marketing, taking payments. They field millions of questions, run errands, manage drama sometimes, and quite often risk their own place to damage from
Participants and their horses. It’s not uncommon for them to miss out on being able to participate due to running the clinic and helping riders get settled, and often they dig into their own pockets to make the event run.

If you’re headed to a clinic this year, when you’ve finished making googly eyes at the clinician, make sure to thank the host. And maybe apologize for making them answer the same questions that were likely readily available on the flyer. And definitely clean out your stall and sweep up after yourself . Maybe a bottle of wine or gift card isn’t a bad idea either 😉

Just remember, clinicians go home - but if we burn out the hosts, who are under appreciated and under compensated, we have no clinics.

Take a moment to say thank you, and be a good guest this year. Remember, you’re in someone else’s home. Not many of us would like strangers horses tearing up our barn and trailers rutting up our lawn.

Sincere thank you to the lovely hosts who make our events possible.

We may have tried resistance bands at the gym, but what about in the saddle? Resistance bands will help you mimic the use of muscles needed to keep you balanced in the saddle.
