Happy Thanksgiving to our amazing Port Rover family !!! Today we are thankful for everyone who supports our small business and trusts us to care for your most precious kids. We are thankful for the BEST Pet Care Team. We have had some great folks come and go, but collectively this is the most passionate, animal loving, caring, and hard working individuals we have ever had.

Thankful for Kevin, April, Hama, Ciara, Trina, Casey, Lauren, Seana, Regan, and Marissa. The majority of this team will be spending their Thanksgiving Day/Weekend making sure 80+ four legged creatures receive the highest of care while they stay with us. 🧡🧡🧡

HOLIDAY CLOSURE: Port Rover will be closed for Day School, Adventure Club, Grooming on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week. Boarding pickups will be available Saturday from 8am to 4pm and Sunday from 5pm to 7pm. We are sorry for any inconvenience. We hope everyone has an amazing Thanksgiving !!!

In memory of Rudy. Our first Port Rover President, our Commander in Treats, the honorable and adorable Rudy. We want to take a moment to honor his life and legacy. Rudy has been a Port Rover favorite for the past 4+ years. He was an OG Daycare dog that mastered the art of wrapping every staff member around his little paw. He could do no wrong, he was always right and no one told him otherwise. We will miss you sweet boy and all yout silly quirks.

In honor of Princess. This post is way over due. Sometimes we just have to take a moment to grieve those who we have lost. Princess was an absolute Princess, true to her name. She, along with her brother Max, were the first to step foot in Port Rover when the doors opened in 2019. Princess had one of those unique personalities that made her so special. Her ability to not cooperate for almost all photoshoots was always comical. We will forever miss her sweet smile, her RBF and her joy of life. RIP Sweet Girl.

This past week has been AMAZING. As our Overnight Boarders, Grooming Guests and Adventure Club Kids have relocated to our new (Second) facility in Western Branch, our Day School kids have been taking FULL advantage of all the new spaces to explore. This week we continued our Treadmill introductions. We were amazed at how many were willing to learn. Learning the Treadmill is a slow process so we will be taking baby steps to get to their full potential safely and happily. Enjoy this little snippet of some of the most adorable Day School kids !!!

Mando (adoptable) is our FIRST guest to officially move to our SECOND location located at 3114 Tyre Neck Rd. Portsmouth VA !!!

Here's a few things to know about our new location:

*Adventure Club dogs are relocating to Tyre Neck Rd
*Full Service grooming is moving to Tyre Neck Rd
*Overnight Boarding is moving to Tyre Neck Rd
*Day School / Day Care is remaining on Airline Blvd
*Day School approved dogs can participate in Mini Day School at Tyre Neck but only while boarding.
*Day School dogs at Airline can will have bathing options on Fridays only (for now)
*We will still have Saturday Fun Days at Airline Blvd only.
*Hours remain the same (still closed between 10am and 3pm at both)
*Phone Number is the same for both locations.
*We will have limited shuttle service between the two locations (mon-fri) Reservations required.

*The same amazing staff will be taking care of your kids at both locations.

Please join us in celebrating our very first Port Rover President... drum roll, please... Mr. RUDY! Also known as Cutie Rudy, Cute Patootie, and Old Man Rudster, Rudy is ready to work for treats and won’t take “no” for an answer! He will officially take office immediately.
Rudy will have some paw-some support from his Vice President, Mr. Boomer, affectionately known as "Boom for Change," and our Speaker of the Dog House, Mr. Boone—the GSP with a heart of gold and boundless energy to help maintain order and harmony.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the parents who participated in this year’s election. Your love and effort made this campaign truly special! All participants will have prizes waiting for them at Port Rover this Friday.
Congratulations to our winners! Our staff is excited to work with each of you as we move forward together with progress and change. Remember, it’s of the dogs, by the dogs! 🐾❤️

SNEAK PEAK !!! We are excited to announce that Port Rover will soon be opening a second location in Portsmouth! We are in the process of planning a grand opening event and will begin accepting Thanksgiving boarding reservations immediately. The new 6,000 sq ft facility, located at 3114 Tyre Neck Rd., Portsmouth, VA 23703, will offer Overnight Boarding , Grooming Services, and our fantastic Adventure Club.

Our Airline Blvd. location will continue to serve as the home for our Day School program, which will now have even more space for our students to learn, grow, and thrive.
