Some may think that Day School is just fun and games. Well it is, but little do these kids know they are learning at the same time.
They have worked so hard this past month and we couldn't be prouder !!
Round 1 of our Back to School Pics have arrived. We still have some more to take so don't worry if you don't see your fur-baby yet. Photoshoots are a great opportunity to practice our Sit and Stays with lots of distractions going on.

Day School Week 2. As we continue to fine tune our rotation schedules, skill sets and enrichment the dogs are really starting to figure it all out !! It has been amazing watching them learn and progress. We have a long way to go but they will get there. We have faith !!! Our amazing staff has been super busy making sure every dog gets their time. Report Cards will go out later today/this evening. Back to School pics have begun and Chip was the perfect cover model for today.

Today we grieve with the family of Jack. This perfect boy has been a part of the Port Rover family for several years. Jack had the absolute best life with a family who loved him more than you can imagine. Jack will ALWAYS hold a special place in our hearts. RIP sweet boy. We love you. ❤️❤️❤️🩵🩵🩵
This week our beginner Day School kids are working on group sits and focus. Our more advanced kids are working on gate manners. Some of our veteran dogs just stare at us like we're nuts. They haven't figured out all the changes lately but they will come around :)
Are you prepared for the crazy storms headed our way ? It's always a good idea to make sure your dog is registered with a local boarding facility (outside flood zones) and that have you met the facilities requirements. Even if you never have to utilize their services. Make sure to get your kids registered and have up-to-date vaccination records on hand. Many places (including Port Rover) require meet and greets prior to boarding as well.
We have received many calls today requesting boarding but without proper vaccines we are not able to take them.

We are finding our rhythm with Day School. The kids are working on group sits and focus this week. We hope all the parents have enjoyed the report cards. Next week we will start our Back to School photoshoot !!!

Together they make an amazing team. They genuinely enjoy what they do and treat every dog as an individual. We are lucky to have them here at Port Rover and we are looking forward to seeing all those adorable pups get their spa days and fancy new haircuts!!!

Many people are asking....why are we switching to Day School?
Port Rover has been open for nearly 5 years now (yay!) Over the past 5 years we have evolved and grown as a successful company by figuring out what works for us and was does NOT work for us. We took a moment to think about what kind of pet care facility we really wanted to be. We focused on our core beliefs that a pet care facility should improve the quality of each life for both the dogs and the parents that enter our facility. With this in mind, we developed a Day School program back in January of 2024. At the time, the Day School program was limited to 20 dogs per month. The program was designed primarily around dogs that were not able to participate in group play due to overstimulation, high anxiety or straight fear. The positive improvement this program had on the enrolled dogs was way more than we ever expected. Through consistency, routine and a whole lot of patience from our trainers and staff, many of these dogs are now able to participate in group play and settle in any environment. Seeing this success firsthand made us realize that Day Care was no longer working for us. Daycare can be fun…but we want to do better!
Our goal is to operate a successful day school program where every dog has an opportunity to learn and grow at their own pace and with MENTAL and PHYSICAL activities that they enjoy. We know this transition is a BIG change for everyone and we truly appreciate everyone asking questions and taking time to learn about the new options. Please be patient with us as we work out some of the kinks. We are confident that over the next few months you and your dog will see the benefits of Day School and it will all be worth it!!!
