It is with a heavy heart that we write this. This past year a great customer of ours husband unexpectedly passed away. Because of this she is now forced to let go of her alpaca breeding farm dream. She has some wonderful alpacas available. Please PM me if you are interested in learning more about her animals. The bloodlines are from our show herd and the alpacas are living on our farm. Two wonderful breeding females, two ribbon winning males and one yearling male never shown. A caring farm is a must as she hates to see them go. Feel free to share if you have a fellow breeder that may be interested.

Thank you Jessica O'Donnell for not only training and riding Hinter Fell Pony Stallion but loving him as if he were your own. FEI Pre St George, I can't believe it. I remember the day we picked him up and said "you never know, some day he could be our FEI pony", well today is that day!! So proud and grateful! Ann Fiore

Did you know carrots were originally purple, and occasionally, yellow and white? In the late 16th century, Dutch farmers used mutant strains of the heirloom carrot, by crossing yellow and white ones, which gradually developed the common sweet orange carrot we have today.

The purple pigment in heirloom carrots is anthocyanin. Anthocyanins are a type of flavonoid, which give many fruits and vegetables their deep rich colours. They have anti-oxidant effects, and may also have anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, and even cancer-preventing effects.

Some think the reason the orange carrot became so popular in the Netherlands was in tribute to the emblem of the House of Orange and the struggle for Dutch independence. While this is possible, it also might have just been because orange carrots are sweeter and often more plump.

We wanted to thank all our new friends that messaged us after reading A. Kelly's letter in the local papers. Everyone of the messages warmed our heart. We had no idea there were so many supporters of the farm and the decision the previous town council members, Liz Pedro, Joe Robicheau, Judy Staven, and Paul Kesson made. Extra thank you to all of you who also purchased Alpaca Socks and/or tour gift cards. We will be getting more socks in the beginning of next week. Feeling grateful today!

Clyde at three months old. Thank you Born To Be Wild for all the care you gave him. RIP Clyde

Our youngest raptor, Clyde, a 3 month old Barn Owl has died. We are all deeply saddened by this turn of events. Clyde was badly crippled by a broken leg which happened when he fell from his nest at only 2 weeks of age. Then on Wednesday, he managed somehow to break his good leg (the hip) and he was in a great deal of pain. The prognosis was grim so the decision was made to euthanize him. It's been a very tough summer here at BTBW.

All the trees on the farm have been checked for dead limbs, branches trimmed that were touching roofs, and even a few dangerous dead trees removed. Ready for this years stormy weather! The alpacas are enjoying the cooler weather, and yes, we got rain!! Greening pastures ahead!

Well finally the parts for my truck came from Germany and it is fixed!!! Too bad it took so long, but better late than never! Love my truck even if it is tough to get parts!
