It's going to be hot, hot, hot this week! Excessive heat exposure can be very dangerous for dogs and cats. These are a few of our favorite things to do when the weather is just too hot for normal activity.

Remember to keep your pets hydrated and allow plenty of access to cool air. We do allow pets in store, as long as they are on a leash and potty trained. Please do not leave them in a vehicle unattended!

Here's another heads up that fireworks will be starting any day now! 🎆🗓️

Whether you're spending the day on the lake or grilling up some favorites, remember to keep it safe and healthy when you share snacks with your pup. Here's a list of dog-friendly foods for the summer:

Why is protecting your dog's paw pads so important? 🐾

Think of their paw pads like the equivalent of our feet. Just like how our feet can get injured or sore from walking on rough or hot surfaces, the same thing can happen to dogs.

Hot pavements in summer and icy surfaces in winter can cause burns or frostbite. Hiking on gravel, rocks, and uneven terrain can cut or abrade sensitive paws. Sharp objects like glass or metal on roadways can cause serious injuries to unprotected paws.

On a typical sunny day, the temperatures inside a vehicle can reach 20-30 degrees hotter than the outside temperature within 10-20 minutes – WAY too hot for Fido! Luckily dogs and cats are welcome inside our store, just please keep them on a leash. Let's keep everyone cool and safe this summer 🐾✨

Today is National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, and we would like to take a moment to thank all of our current (and future 😉) customers who have adopted a dog or cat from one of the many rescues in our community!

Derby and Amigo are an unlikely duo that formed when their family adopted each of them from separate rescues in our area. They now enjoy cuddling up on the couch, chasing golf balls, and taking long hikes together. The two of them also occasionally share their Steve’s Real Food patties at meal time!

There are many ways to add a new furry friend into your family. Next time you’re ready to make that commitment, consider if adoption is right for you 🐾✨
