Did you know our Shoe Drive has started again?

This time last year we collected 3793 pounds of shoes… how many pounds do you think we receive during this round? Share this post and then comment your guess below of the total weight. The closest guess at the end of the drive will win a gift certificate to our grooming center next door!

We will be accepting donations of gently used shoes until October 31st! The donation collection bins are marked and can be found to the left of our shelter entrance.

Our staff remembers each and every one, and we are always hoping they are thriving in their forever homes and doing even better than they did here with us. The Potsdam Humane Society operates a Pet Food Pantry, which is currently running very low on dry food for both dogs and cats. If anybody in the community has either dry cat or dry dog food to donate to our pantry, it would be greatly appreciated by not only our facility but also the members of the community who have us to fall back on for pet food when things are difficult.

We are so grateful for all of the donations that we receive and the continued support of the shelter in our area. We can accept donations at the shelter during regular business hours. Thank you!

Meet Sierra! This happy girl loves zoomies, but she can go really fast from affectionate and lively to calm and just hanging out together. If you have visited the Potsdam Humane Society you’ve probably noticed our Annex building, this building is named after Potsdam native and American Hero Chad Fuller.
Spc. Fuller died, at the age of 23, fighting Taliban guerrillas in Afghanistan Aug 31, 2003 near the Pakistan border.

You are still in our hearts.

Job Description:

Cleaner/Kennel Attendants are responsible for performing maintenance and sanitation procedures in compliance with New York State Agriculture and Markets guidelines to ensure a hygienic environment for all animals and a clean, neat, and organized facility for all workers and the public. General duties include cleaning all dog, cat, and small animal enclosures; providing fresh food, water, bedding, and litter; washing and sanitizing dishes, litter pans, and other animal equipment; sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping; laundry; stocking and organizing supply room; cleaning the bathroom; and trash removal. Duties are divided into 3 main categories: Dogs, Cats, and Housekeeping

The shelter would like to thank donors Nathaniel, Evelyn, and Juliette for their dedication to supporting our cause! This is the second year the trio has independently raised donation money for the Potsdam Humane Society. This year, the group sold vegetables and corn at a lawn sale to raise $144! We greatly appreciate all of their time and effort!

She is about 12 years old, fully vaccinated, and spayed!
