Hey fish friends! 🐟🐠 We just want to take a moment to clear up a few rumors and set the record straight:
1. About our closure last year:
We did not close because anything was wrong with our fish or our store. It was simply for personal reasons. Our fish and tanks have always been healthy and well cared for.
2. About our fish health:
No, our fish are not all sick or dying. Like any aquarium (even at big chains like Petco or in your home tank), the occasional case of ich can pop up. It’s common, treatable, and we never sell fish showing signs of illness. The second we notice an issue, we begin treatment and only make them available again once they’re fully healthy.
3. About comments and blocks:
We welcome conversation on our page, but if someone is being rude or disrespectful, yes, they may be blocked. We may also remove comments if they give answers that should come directly from us, the business owners, to avoid confusion.
A couple of reminders:
• Algae isn’t bad! A little algae in tanks is actually a good sign—it means the tank is established and the beneficial bacteria are thriving. Sometimes we just get busy and don’t scrub it down every single day.
• Pricing & returns: We’re a small, local business—not a giant chain. That means our prices can’t always match big-box stores, but your support is what keeps us here in the community. As for returns, our fish often live with us for months before finding homes. If they’re put into a tank without proper acclimation or testing, survival can be tough, which is why we have a policy in place.
At the end of the day, we’re beyond grateful for all of you who support us. 💙 We love seeing your smiling faces in the shop, and we truly appreciate every visit, every purchase, and every kind word.
Thank you for being part of the Potsdam Aquatics family! ❤️🐟🙏
