Tonight was a great night for our 3-Phase Event. A 3-Phase Event is a round of dressage, show jumping, and cross country. The weather was perfect and the smiles were many!

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. When it's camp during the hottest week of the year, you turn the AC on in the tack room, eat lots of icy pops and ice cream, ride early in the day, and play lots of water games. Despite the hot temps, we had a blast this week at camp!

Champs Adventure: Day 6
And that's a wrap.
Last rides, awards, and a beautiful sunset to finish up a great week!

Here are the final results:

* Meghan placed 2nd in modified novice d in Quiz.

* Skye placed 9th in horse management in modified novice Tet and was a lucky winner of a new air gun pistol.

* Landon's standard open Games team won 1st place and the Margo Leithead award for horse management and 1st place overall. Landon also had an Outstanding Turnout Inspection and won the Tiny but Might award.

* Rosie & Emily were on a standard senior dressage team and placed 2nd in horse management and 1st place overall. Additionally, Rosie placed 10th overall with her musical freestyle and was the reserve champion high point winner in the Thoroughbred Incentive Program.

* Leeliana was a stable manager for a modified junior training level dressage team. They placed 2nd in horse management and 3rd overall.

* Finley & Lydia (stable manager) competed on a .75 modified junior division show jumping team. The team won 1st place and the Margo Leithead award for horse management and 8th place overall. Additionally, Finley had had an Outstanding Turnout Inspection.

* Olivia was a stable manager for a .75 modified junior division show jumping team. The team placed 5th in horse management and 6th overall.

* Hannah competed on a .75 standard division show jumping team. The team placed 2nd in horse management and 2nd place overall. Additionally, Hannah placed 6th in equitation.

A great week of friendship, learning, and all things horse!
Tomorrow we begin the journey (half way) home.

Champs Adventure: Day 5

Another great day of competition for us! We had more rides, the showcase ride by Emily and W***y, and the quiz awards!

Congrats to Meghan for her 2nd place team finish in quiz.

Tomorrow there are last rides, awards, packing up, and a solid night of sleep before starting the journey home on Sunday. But for now we sleep!

Champs Adventure: Day 4

What a day it was!!
So many exceeds standards in turnouts / formal inspections it is hard to count!
Beautiful rides, challenges met head on with some overcome and some yet to be overcome, moments of learning and teamwork, and even though it was rainy all morning it meant temperatures that made everyone a bit more jolly.

Champs Adventure: Day 3

A big day for the crew.

Teams were formalized and horse management began. Barns closed to non-competitors at 12pm and everything kicked off.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, passed their jog outs! And if you know anything about the last 3 weeks...we've been worried!

Courses were walked, shooting and games were practiced, and Meg had her first phase of Quiz in the Mega Room!

We celebrated with the Opening Ceremony and nightly barn checks.

Champs Adventure: Day 2

Batavia to Lexington and Kentucky Horse Park.

It was an early morning with wake up at 4:30am and we pulled into the Horse Park 12 hours later at 4:30pm.

We were graciously hosted by Heart2Heart Pony Club and it was great for the horses to have outside time overnight.

From 4:30-8:45pm the competitors helped one another unload (in the 97 degree heat) and get their horse stabled, tack and feed rooms organized, fans up, and horses hosed down and walked.

We left just in time to see a beautiful sunset.

Tomorrow it all begins.

Champs Adventure Day 1:
Potsdam to Batavia

A lot of morning work before being escorted out of town!

The horses trailered great and got tucked in for the night. We had some time to pick up last minute supplies and relax a bit before the long (and early) drive tomorrow.

Please spread the word! Our Summer Carnival is tomorrow (Saturday) from 10-3. There are many fun games like the Pig Race and Toilet Paper Toss as well as pony rides and a petting zoo. Admission for kids 10 & under is free, otherwise it's only $5.00! You can get 25 tickets for only $20. Each carnival game is 1 ticket and pony rides are 2 tickets. So come out to Sunrise Stables and join us for some farm family fun!

We still have openings for our summer day-camp this week! You get to choose the days: Mon-Fri, July 1-5. Drop-off between 8-9 and pick-up 4-4:30. Campers will have one riding lessons, unmounted lessons in horse care/knowledge, as well as arts/crafts, and other farm-related games and activities. No prior riding experience required. Ages 4 & up. Cost: $300/full week, $275/full week for returning campers, $65/day for 2-4 days, $75 for 1 day.

Last night Sunrise Stables lost one of its “most favoritest” ponies…Magic Merlin.

At the ripe old age of 27, he passed away with his most loving boy next to him.
Merlin taught many kids over the years and he taught them well.

Good job, old man. We thank you for your love, laughter, and sassiness. But most of all we will miss you around the barn!

May the hay be sweet where you are, Merlin!
