Backwoods Taxidermy is a full time studio located between Potsdam and Canton.

We are a full service studio mounting deerheads, gameheads, lifesize mounts, bird, fish, rugs, European mounts, and novelty mounts. I have been in the taxidermy industry since 2001 and use the most up to date forms, products, and taxidermy practices.

Safe to say the kids had an awesome hunting season!!! Started with Alexa and Mat’s big bears, Alexa filling her muzzleloader and rifle tags, Parker’s first buck, Mat’s NY rifle buck, and ended with Mat and Alexa both getting Iowa giants!! Super proud of all three of them!!!!

Every year late season proves to be a great time to harvest mature bucks. Some great deer have been still steadily rolling in!!

Awesome day at camp! Parker got his first ever buck, a 7 pt Stillwater buck! He’s put on lots of miles, helped drive numerous bucks to other men, and today was his turn. Great last drive of the weekend with a great group of men. Proud of you “Surefoot”!!

Just a quick note everyone with rifle season opening Saturday, shop is closed Friday afternoons till dark on Sundays. I will return calls as soon as I can. While I love my job, love spending time in the woods with family/friends as well, thanks for understanding and good luck to everyone!!

Very proud of both Alexa and her boyfriend Mat. Couple weeks ago Mat harvested a beautiful 314 lb live weight bear, and this morning Alexa shot a giant that went 557 lb live weight. Kids sure like keeping me busy, wouldn’t have it any other way! Congrats you two!!

Took a road trip to West Texas this winter break for Alexa’s graduation present - an Aoudad! And Parker was able to get a Javelina while we were there. We had a blast, and the scenery was breathtaking. The guide (Roy Hurley) and his family were welcoming and provided first class accommodations, meals, laughs and a hunt of a lifetime. We all had a great time!
