Might be an odd post. We are looking for the donation of a Unicorn or two. If you know us, you know we try to take the best care possible of our lesson horses. However even with the best care they get old and most of ours are aging out (late 20's,early 30's). We are a barn that believes in keeping costs down for the students and our focus is on kids so I'm hoping there are people /a person out there, willing to donate their horse to our program. I'm happy to provide references from our vet, farrier, feed supplier, clients and people who have donated horses in the past. Our horses live out their lives here, getting retired out to pasture when they can't work anymore. (we have a field full of 30 yr olds! ) Can you help? - This photo is Demi,a donated mare who is one of our favorites, now 29 yrs old.

It's been a busy summer and for part of it students from the ranch participated in the Tri Valley summer gymkhana series. Riding in 4 events sponsored by the Potter Valley Riding Club, Redwood Riders and Willits Horsemens association. Top four in the 10 and under age group and respectable placings in the other age group. Great Job everyone!

It's not to late to sign up for the two upcoming Winter riding academy sessions. Each is 3 days (Friday Saturday & Sunday) and yes we will still be riding and learning in spite of the predicted rain because the arena is indoors!

I'm sorry we had to cancel the Thanksgiving camp session- other obligations have come up. HOWEVER. we are offering a SALE on riding lessons for the months of December and January. Weekday group lessons are 30% off!! Lessons will be $30 each if you sign up for 4 weeks and pay at the beginning of the month. Also I will have Tuesday openings for those months.

We're doing something a bit different. We are offering a 1/2 lease on a select number of the lesson horses. The cost is $300 a month, this allows the Lessor to ride their leased horse up to 2 times a week here and the ranch. Off site use (other arena, show, trail ride etc) is possible but must be pre-approved. This offer is only open to current or former students.

I'm putting a wonderful Mustang gelding up for adoption (for a rehoming fee- he is not free!). Archie is a 5 yr old gelding that is saddle trained but.... He has bony changes to his C6 (neck) that make it difficult for him to go up or down steep hills or to bend very sharply. He is a lover of a horse, he thinks people were made to serve him. He had 60 days of professional training and I rode him consistently for another 6 months before I realized what was wrong. He's good on the flat, will WTC, step over logs and poles and will move off your leg well. He suitable for light to moderate riding. He has such great ground manners that he would do well in a unridden therapy program as well. He's very easy to catch, ties, trailers etc and good about his feet. I adore this horse but I'm a competitive trail rider and he can't do the hills or the heavy work I do.

Trail Camp photos. We did lots and lots of long miles on wide and narrow trails, up and down hills and practiced a lot of trail skills. And Beau allowed them to learn the right way to wrap legs post ride.

We lost another one of our great ones today. Lucky Eddie was a starved rescue horse that became a top notch trail horse and took several junior riders to Regional Championships in NATRC competitive trail riding. Live pain free now Eddie, we cherish your memory.

Once again the students and horses (along with ponies and dog) made an appearance at the Potter Valley parade. The theme was Tiki Time and we were all going to a Lua on the beach accompanied by some turtles (aka ponies). Fun!

Spark is still looking for a new address. She is a 13 yr old grade QH mare She is a very loving mare and I hate to let her go but she doesn't fit in as a lesson horse - it's not her thing. Spark is 14'1 hands and built like a tank. Strong enough for an adult but gentle enough for kids. She is an outstanding trail horse, will go anywhere I've asked. I've put beginners on her out on the trail and she takes good care of them. Pros: She has great ground manners and will tie for long periods, quiet to groom and saddle, good for the farrier and trailers well. She is responsive to the leg, turns on the forehand, turns on the haunches, backs well. Good and Bad? She moves fast, has a fast walk and would rather trot than jog. Cons: She's not happy in the arena and does not have a nice lope. And while she bends well at the walk and trot (makes small turns) she does not bend well at the lope/gallop. I think her best fit is as a trail horse for someone who doesn't mind a fast walking partner. She just had a full dental and is up to date on shots and shoes etc. 🖐000

We now have some openings for boarding. 12X12 stalls with paddocks and half day turnout. We provide all the hay each horse needs, feeding twice a day and what ever grain or supplements you provide. Indoor arena for all weather riding and small round pen. $440 a month
