Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Stella, 4 years old and CrAzY food motivated was doing an amazing heel with her dad past CHEESEBURGERS a on the floor as her distracters. She has come a LONG away in the last month- next class she brings her cohort in crime with her to class to learn to heel TOGETHER!
Riley is working HARD!
I’d like to introduce you to Riley and her dad. They started at A+ because she was really a handful. Now, he and her mom can walk her in the neighborhood and enjoy her so much more!
Keep at it, guys!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! There are training opportunities EVERYWHERE you look!
Most townships will be having Santa come around on the firetruck either this weekend or next... USE IT! Depending on your dogs ability, have them sit/stay as the truck goes through the hood! Some of you will need to have your dog work for you sitting in front of the storm door watching while others will be able to greet him at the end of the driveway. MOST IMPORTANT THING... set your dog up for success, not failure! You know what I’m talking about!
I’ll be waiting for pictures of my training friends successfully meeting the big man!
Happy Halloween, all! Here’s some training ideas for you for tonight!
I’m sharing this for my friend Melissa who said this was not going to be possible- a challenge if I have ever heard one and you know me at all!
We started about 5 feet away and moved up closer. Archie doesn’t like flashing lights, no discos for him, so this was a great challenge for him!
30 minutes later, he is snoring away! I couldn’t resist the 36 in sparklers, so we will do those later!
Have fun!
Success!!
Meet Calvin, and his mom and sister! Calvin and his parentscame to me when mom was expecting their first child and there was a lot of concern about Calvins dog reactivity on walks. Mom knew it was going to be impossible to walk Calvin and the baby in the stroller because if he heard another dog bark or even whine, he went defcon 10 crazy!
They went through our basic obedience class and then I went to their house to get a clear picture of what was going on... WOW, was my only reaction.
Now please don;t get me wrong, his parents worked HARD for the result that they have, but holy cow, I couldn't be more excited and proud of the success they have found! Daily reinforcement is easy, because they wak A couple times a day!
Well done, congratulations!
Murphalicious!!!
A FABULOUS way to spend these days is spending a little time each day working on your dogs listening skills. Here, Murphy and his parents are working on distance come... he looks good, doesn't he! Great job everyone!
