Important Announcement from Hillside SPCA
For the safety and well-being of all the animals in our care, we must temporarily close our intake for the next two weeks. Adoptions will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
Unfortunately, two stray dogs recently brought to our shelter have tested positive for parvovirus (parvo). While our current animals are vaccinated, it is crucial that we take every precaution. We will be placing our shelter under quarantine and monitoring closely to ensure that no additional cases arise.
During this time, volunteer activity will also need to be limited in order to reduce risk and help us maintain strict safety protocols.
We’d also like to remind the public that situations like this can often be prevented by keeping your pets up-to-date on all recommended vaccines. Vaccination is one of the most important ways to protect not only your own animals, but also the entire community.
We understand this may cause inconvenience, but the health and safety of the animals always come first. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support during this time.
