Yesterday morning's heavy rainfall was a stark reminder of a critical issue: our current drainage system is simply inadequate. The severe downpours we have been experiencing lately are overwhelming our current drains, leaving our beloved animals vulnerable to flooding.
The situation was dire. As rain poured down, runoff has no where to go but into our side yard and kennels. Water quickly accumulated in our kennels, reaching several inches deep. Our staff worked tirelessly through the deluge, redirecting water and ensuring the safety of our dogs. They faced a challenging situation, but their commitment to our animals' well-being shone through.
Imagine, however, if this had happened overnight while we were all sleeping. The thought of our dogs standing in water for hours, unable to escape, is terrifying. This incident has underscored the urgent need for a comprehensive drainage solution.
We are committed to creating a safe and healthy environment for all our animals, and addressing this drainage issue is a top priority. We are incorporating it into our ongoing Capital Campaign, and we need your support to make this vital project a reality.

What a fun day at our Hillside SPCA 3rd Annual Doggy Egg Hunt!! The wind was brutal but so many people came out regardless to spend the afternoon with their pups while raising money for Hillside! Thank you so much for being awesome!!
I need to thank all of our vendors for braving the weather as well! You guys are tough and I hope you enjoyed the day!

Finally, a HUGE thank you to our volunteers that helped run this event!! A lot goes into these events and we’re usually exhausted before they even begin, but we have some amazing volunteers that push through. A special thanks to USW Local 9999 (Hydro Union Members) for running our concession stand! Those guys ran a tight ship…. They even kicked me out of their kitchen! 🤣
We hope to see you all again next year!! Let’s start praying for nicer weather!!! 🤞🏻
