Protect Your Pets During Extreme Heat
At Community Animal Care, your pet's health and well-being are our top priorities. With the impending extreme heat expected in our area over the next few days, we want to remind you about the risks of heat-related illnesses and how to keep your pets safe.
Here are some essential tips to ensure your pets remain comfortable and healthy during this period of high temperatures:
1. Hydration is Key: Always provide plenty of fresh water for your pets. Consider placing multiple water bowls around your home to ensure easy access.
2. Avoid Midday Heat: Try to exercise your pets early in the morning or late in the evening when temperatures are cooler. Avoid walking your pets during the hottest part of the day.
3. Never Leave Pets in Cars: Even with windows slightly open, the temperature inside a parked car can quickly become dangerously high. Never leave your pets unattended in a vehicle.
4. Provide Shade and Cool Areas: Ensure your pets have access to shaded areas if they are outside. Indoors, keep them in cool, well-ventilated areas. Fans and air conditioning can help keep them comfortable.
5. Be Alert for Signs of Heatstroke: Symptoms of heatstroke in pets include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, and collapse. If you suspect your pet is suffering from heatstroke, move them to a cool area immediately and contact us or an emergency veterinary clinic right away.
6. Limit Exercise and Play: On extremely hot days, reduce your pet’s physical activity. Overexertion in high temperatures can lead to heat exhaustion or heatstroke.
Remember, our team at Community Animal Care is here to support you and your pets. If you have any concerns or need advice on how to keep your pets safe during this heatwave, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Stay cool and take care of your furry friends!
