SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING issued for Dutchess County until 7:00pm. Severe thunderstorms may contain heavy rain, dangerous lightning and strong winds, If severe weather impacts your area, remain indoors, if possible.

‼️An EXTREME HEAT WARNING is currently in effect for Dutchess County through Tuesday, June 24 at 8pm. Dangerously high temperatures and humidity will make it feel like 110 degrees outside. This high heat index can cause heat-related illness for all people. Vulnerable populations, such as infants and young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, and pregnant women are at even greater risk. ‼️

☀️LIMIT time spent outdoors. Stay in air-conditioned spaces as much as possible.
☀️HYDRATE – drinking plenty of non-alcoholic fluids.
☀️CHECK on friends and neighbors.
☀️NEVER leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle for any reason!
☀️CALL 9-1-1 if you suspect someone has heat stroke. (Symptoms include throbbing headache, NO sweating, body temp of 103 or higher, red/hot/dry skin, nausea or vomiting, rapid & strong pulse, possible loss of consciousness.)

Members of DCART participated in a Regional Shelter Drill with our friends from the American Red Cross Eastern New York, Ulster County Animal Response Team (UCART), Bleu's K9 Rescue Inc., Ulster MRC, Town of Rosendale and New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services at the Rosendale Community Center. It was great morning of collaboration and learning!

Register today to join us on Saturday, May 31st as we host in partnership with Hudson Valley Animal Rescue and Sanctuary a FREE rabies clinic for Dutchess County residents' dogs, cats, and ferrets. The event will take place from 10am-2pm at HVARS located at 9 Barnes Drive in Poughkeepsie.
