Fascia- tissue paper thin tissue that can make your horses body (& ours) as happy or as unhappy as can be.
Head to tail to toes- EVERYTHING CONNECTS. Treat the body as a whole.
"Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve Tiber and muscle in place. The tissue does more than provide internal structure; fascia has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as skin."
So when you have a trauma related injury, a bad fall, or structural damage, things move. You might bring a chiropractor in to help your athlete out, rightfully so.
Well when they "don't hold their adjustment" it's typically because fascia has already adjusted things internally and re-learned how to be wrong instead of correct. So we have to release the fascia in order for the body to learn how to be correct again. Bring in Acuscope/Myopulse. We can help the body do some fascia release! My chiropractors, osteopaths ect.
Find that when I work on them before or after, things go hand in hand, and results stay put.

" - The left side is balanced and correct.
The right side, somewhere, something (fascia) is holding/ pulling on part of the body and throwing the whole body off. Causing over compensation, soreness, ect.

Just because you have the correct angles, does that mean you have a balanced hoof?

Hoof balance is not simply about geometric proportions, its morphological changes are a picture of its functionality and changes to the capsule as a whole are often overlooked when simple angles and symmetry are dictating the ideal. There are different levels of "Hoof balance" and correct function is one of them. After all, form follows function.

The example below shows a hoof that was made to have the correct angles with prosthetics on the left. The same foot after restored function AND correct angles on the right!

If our interventions are not affecting genuine hoof capsule change then we need to re-assess.
In a recent conference talk I discussed recognising the ideal hoof in terms of both form and function, and how this is restricted at times in both the shod and barefoot setting!!

The recording is now available for everyone to enjoy..

Our Story

I provide hoof care for horses, donkeys, mules, and hinnies. My passion is keeping animals sound and comfortable to the best of my abilities. I find hoof care to be the most rewarding and intriguing. I love to watch animals move, so it really made sense for me to get into the bio-mechanics and locomotion of equines. I graduated from Post University with a Bachelors of science in equine studies and a in depth concentration in hoof trimming. I am also a graduate of Mission Farrier school where we focused on the horse and finding their best center, encouraging their best movement, comfort and soundness.
