Starting an animal rescue has been a process, almost seven years in the making. But none of that was enough. That’s where Town & Country steps in.

Welcome to Town & Country K9 ResQ LTD, a registered 501(c)(3) not for profit charitable organization devoted to finding loving homes for adoptable pets and keeping current pets with their owners and out of the shelter system when times are tough. It started out by watching animal shelters curiously from the outside in, then donating, next volunteering and helping to search for missing pets. I coul
d walk twenty dogs a day at the shelter where I volunteer, but only rarely did that help get anyone a forever home. Too often, good dogs and cats sit for weeks, months, and even years in cages through no fault of their own. These are highly adoptable pets, which languish behind bars for far too long. They could easily make the transition to obedient, well-trained pets if someone would just give them a chance. As a 501(c)(3), we are able to solicit donations (which are 100% tax deductible) to cover the costs associated with getting an adoptable dog into either training or a foster home, or getting a pet the medical attention it needs. We are small and focused, which enables us to concentrate on the best candidate animals getting them out of the shelter system and into a home. And while we don’t work exclusively with Pits, we feel they need a lot more help than the other breeds. Pits are the most misunderstood and yet most forgiving breed we have ever seen. We are committed to being their voice. Based on my time spent at the shelter, I’ve noticed something striking. I can find a home for a Golden Retriever with a bite history in twelve hours, but a Pit with bite history will be put down in twelve hours. I’ve seen it first hand, and I’ve made this comment to several friends in the “dog world”. It’s become like a mantra to me. Nothing against Golden Retrievers (I had two of my own), but its breed discrimination, pure and simple. My other mantra is “Tears do nothing. Actions save lives”. And that is why I chose to act.

Ebony told Kennedy that so many generous people have donated to our 4th Annual Stocking Stuffer event and she was over the moon! She wanted to know if Santa would still come if it was this warm out ha! Looking for a new best friend? Kennedy is still waiting for a foster or adopter. She is a former resident of the NYC ACC. Kennedy is Sassy, Beautiful and LOVES all people. She is between 1-2 years old and fully trained by our good friends at Allied Dog Training. That means she rocks duration place and does an award winning off leash recall. Her foster or adopter will receive handling lessons from our trainers to set everyone up for success. She would be best as an only dog or if experienced and you have a laid back submissive dog that would possibly work IF you are willing to put in the work. If you have a cat we can further test her for serious queries. She has some anxiety in new or chaotic places and to some loud noises so fosters / adopters will receive assistance from our amazing trainers to get her through that. She has LIFETIME support from our trainers who are always a text or phone call away. We work EXTREMELY HARD to set everyone up for success. Kennedy needs an active family to provide physical and mental stimulation. No young children due to her size (50 pounds) and energy level. She is not aggressive but is a large energic pup who may knock over a toddler or young child by accident. Kennedy is located in Southern Dutchess County NY and fosters and adopters would need to be able to come to the rescue center to meet her. If a match you would also need to come for handling lessons before taking her home (usually 3 times, sometimes more sometimes less). She is spayed, house broken, crate trained, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Applications are online and can be found: www.townandcountryk9resq.org under contact us. Questions? Text Christine 914-772-0649 Please help us find her a forever home or foster by sharing. She is so de

I wanted to share with all of you Rita's Adoption video made back in June 2016. Her remarkable personality shines through in every picture. I have also never seen all of the workers come out to say Good Bye for any other dog. Rita was special and she will be missed. God Bless her Family during this very sad time. Fly High Baby Girl- Run Free and without pain. Watch over your Family. Thank you All for showing her Family all the Town & Country love!

We have Guinea Pigs in the Town & Country House! Fairy and Sphinx are 3 weeks old and Unicorn and Mysticorn are 6 weeks old. We saved them from the Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) and are looking for homes! They are super social and love each other. All females. Ideally we would like to adopt out Fairy and Sphinx together and Unicorn and Mysticorn together or if someone wanted to take all four as they really LOVE each other that would be awesome! Currently being fostered by Jen- they are in Cortlandt Manor NY. Applications: www.townandcountryk9resq.org under contact us. As we usually have dogs , please respond NA on the questions on the application relating to dogs and fencing etc! I am in LOVE with these babes!
