“Never love anybody who treats you like you’re ordinary.” —Oscar Wilde

If you’ve been fortunate enough to be loved by a dog, you know that a good dog would never treat you as ordinary! You are their whole world. Everyone needs to experience the love of a dog at least once in their lifetime. Little Oscar Wilde (now known as Yo-Yo!) will be traveling to Tampa tomorrow to begin his extraordinary life adventure with his family.

“Strongest minds are often those that the noisy world hears least.” —William Wordsworth
Truer words may never have been written. May we all take the time to listen more and speak less! Let’s continue on with our “Tortured Poets Department” litter. Little Will here certainly takes this quote from his namesake to heart. He is an introspective old soul who is always ready to lend an ear or fill a lap.

“All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.” —Edgar Allan Poe

Today is day three of showcasing our “Tortured Poets Department” litter and we feature Edgar Allan Poe. This little guy is a quiet, introspective soul. He’s always ready for a snuggle, but he’s also yet to say no to playtime. Maybe he, too, is pondering the perceptions of reality like his namesake. I do know that Edgar is a dream of a puppy.

“Your crown has been bought and paid for. Put it on your head and wear it.” -Maya Angelou.
How can one person be filled with so many words, all beautifully strung together like lyrics to a song, that you cannot choose a favorite? You simply have to choose the one that brings a smile to your face or brings tears to your eyes. These words always do that for me. There are so many stories woven into each of our histories. Some we remember and others we will never know, but they all played a part in making us who we are.
Today we continue to showcase our “Tortured Poets Department” litter. Miss Maya Angelou is reserved to a lovely family in Virginia.

“Day by day and night by night we were together — all else has long been forgotten by me.” Walt Whitman
This week we will be featuring our “poets” from the “Tortured Poets Department” litter (IYKYK, right Swifties?) Today we begin with Walt Whitman. This little guy is full of all the things and is actively looking for a family to share his days and nights forever.

We love our vets and their staff at Good Dog Veterinary Care! It is so exciting to know that the quality of care, personal attention, and unmatched professionalism that they provide will be available to even more of the dogs (and Dawgs) of Georgia! You absolutely cannot beat the Good Dog experience!

🎉 We can't keep our secret any longer... Let's cue the tail wags because Good Dog Veterinary Care is opening our second location! GOOD DOG VETERINARY CARE SMYRNA will be opening Summer 2023! 🎉

🐾 Why a second location? We truly believe we are on mission to change veterinary medicine by providing an experience that is exceptional for patients, clients, and team members. We love everything about veterinary medicine (especially canine care!), and we cannot wait to share the Good Dog Difference with new patients, new clients, and new team members in Smyrna. Our current location, Good Dog Veterinary Care West Cobb, will keep all members of our team at this location, including our 3 amazing veterinarians. Dr. Singletary and Natalie will own and operate both Good Dog Veterinary Care West Cobb and Good Dog Veterinary Care Smyrna.

🐾 Where in Smyrna? The heart of downtown! Exact location coming soon, but we have signed a lease on a 4,000 sq. ft stand alone building that is two blocks from downtown at the intersection of Atlanta Road and Concord Road. We are proud to be able to serve clients from Smyrna, Vinings, and Buckhead at our new location!

✨GIVEAWAY TIME! ✨
Current Clients: Have you had a phenomenal experience with us at Good Dog Veterinary Care West Cobb? We would be so humbled if you could help us spread the word to your Smyrna friends and family! Share this post to be entered to win a Good Dog Veterinary Care Sweatshirt OR comment below to tag a friend(s) in Smyrna who needs to come see us next Summer! The more tags, the more chances to win our giveaway. We'll be giving away 5 sweatshirts and 10 Tervis Tumblers!

Vet Med Students: We are now accepting applications to join our DVM Smyrna Team! Do you know 4th year students looking to come back to the ATL area after graduation? Veterinarians seeking a new opportunity? Tag them here! We'll be giving away 3 sets of Figs Scrubs (you pick style, size, and color) to 3 lucky students who tag a 4th year student OR a current veterinarian in our post. The more you tag, the more entries you have to win Figs! Want to tag yourself? Do it! Email [email protected] for more information.

Good Dog Veterinary Care Smyrna would not be possible without our Team, clients, and patients who have been with us since Opening Day at Good Dog Veterinary Care West Cobb in October 2019. Thank you for supporting us and giving us the opportunity to bring something so special to Smyrna! Now... LET'S DO THIS! 🐾

Christmas puppies. The stuff Christmas cards and Christmas movies make look so easy and nostalgic. But the reality is that this is possibly one of the worst times to get a new puppy. When a puppy leaves its littermates and mother, no matter the preparations made, it is a stressful time. Puppies need to come to their new homes and acclimate to their new surrounding slowly before being thrust into the spotlight and surrounded by the chaos that Christmastime can bring. A puppy is a new family member that you should plan on having for 10-15 years and not something that should be entered into lightly. Young children who have never had a puppy before need to be prepared thoroughly before a new family member is brought into the fold. There are many preparations to be made and supplies that need to be on hand before the puppy comes home. It is best to allow children to participate in these preparations so they understand the responsibility and investment of time that a new puppy will require. Done properly, a new puppy can be one of the best things you do for your children. There is so much to learn from having a dog and the rewards are even greater. I truly believe that every child should have the companionship and love that a dog can provide. There is just nothing like it, but a puppy is not a gift. A puppy is a lifelong commitment. This is why we do not sell “Christmas puppies.” I am amazed at the number of inquiries I have received this week alone from people looking for a puppy for Christmas. We have planned breedings and our puppies are reserved months before they are even conceived. We know that these owners are prepared for the puppies and understand all that is required of them as a caretaker. We always love to talk puppies, Basset Hounds, and everything that that entails. Reach out to us ANYTIME to inquire about a new family member —unless it’s the week before Christmas and you are looking for a last minute gift.
