We added a pre-assembled dog to the original coop to give the flock a bigger run area. Adding a 2nd coop after Chuck’s sons about killed him. So Chuck will have his own coop with his own ladies when we are done. Then we will make a 3rd smaller coop for the silkies.

It was hatch day for Black Beauty yesterday. Before I went to bed she had 7 with her 2 last eggs pipped. Her first hatch and our most successful hate to date!

Since I haven’t had much luck with silkie chicks and I have a broody Momma..... we will try our luck at hatching our own silkie chicks to start the silkie project!

The brooder tub got a little fuller yesterday! Welsummer (they lay brown speckled eggs) and Rhode Island blues (was supposed to be all gray.... this is a cross between a red chicken and black chicken, so they will throw reds and black chicks too... Rhys wanted 1 red and 1 of the blacks ... so I ended up with only ONE gray.....)

It’s a beautiful day here in SC! The birds have been grounded to their coop for last 2 weeks because they couldn’t stay in the fenced in backyard. Come meet the birds that created such wonderful eggs!
