PSA tags are required for up to 5 bobcat per year in Oregon. BUT YOU’RE NOT DONE YET. You must get them sealed by the department of fish and wildlife(similar to bear and cougar) within a certain period of time after the season ends whether trapping or hunting.

I run into folks now and then who miss this step and leave their harvest open to the discretion of the odfw.

I recently had a client try to do the right thing when he discovered his mistake, and though he was only 7 days late, they confiscated his sentimentally and monetarily valuable pelts and made him feel like a criminal.

Headed back from the National Taxidermy Competition where I intended to dip my toes in the waters of higher level competition as well as make some connections and learn a lot.

I never dreamed that I would come away with a National Champion title at my first National show!! I took first place and best of category in the professional division with my River otter.

Now what to do for my next competition piece? Hmm..

Hard work paid off at last weekend’s State Taxidermy Competition. I’m very honored to have received multiple awards including the Breakthrough Award for Judges choice Best of Show. Much appreciation for all who helped make this show happen including the board, the judges, and all the folks from 5 different states that showed up to bring their best foot forward.

This deer’s antlers were harvested from a father who had passed and the cape was contributed by an ailing father-in-law. Put together and consigned for me to memorialize by a loving son.. every mount means something different to everyone.

I received this card and letter from a client whose late husband passed away before it could be completed. This was a BIG bull. The letter reads: “Andrew, you did a wonderful job on Meeka- Buffalo. I had him for 14 years- he’s the sire to all these buffalo. I have a 6 year old son of him who is the sire bull now. The best gift I got from my husband!” I try to do my best on each piece and it’s nice to have my work be appreciated.
