Over the last few years the majority of my students have been youth; however, there always seems to be ladies that I come across that say things like, “I used to ride and sure miss it but I just can’t now.” “It’s been too long, I have too much fear.” Or “I was in a pretty bad wreck when I was younger, I just don’t think I can do it.” “ I never rode a horse but it sure seems fun.”

If you can relate, this is for you!

In February I’d like to have a special time set aside for the ladies! A time where I can teach you about why horses do what they do (vision/brain study), how to overcome fears (mindset), building trust and more.

Message me to sign up and reserve a spot. 4 sessions for $100 (payment upon first session)

As we look at the forecast and a drop in the temp by next weekend, we should remember that our equine friends are more adapt to handling the cold than we are.
However, in the cold we need to be sure they have access to open water, extra forage and a windbreak.

I’ve decided I need to share a little more about Wilbur’s Bits on my page.

Wilbur, AKA Bill, is my dad. He’s been a bit maker since the 80’s. I was always so thankful to have his talent available because we would often make bits to fit the needs of my many horses. In the 90’s he was well know for the Wilbur Bit. Hundreds were sold around the country. Lynn McKenzie sold them and also Joyce Loomis-Kernek. They were a combination bit that had a nose band, often a broken mouth piece and medium length shanks. It was a favorite among barrel racers because it could be as soft or harsh as the riders hands. I loved it on my breakaway horse.

For quite a few years he had stopped making bits as he became busy with other areas of his life but since the transfer of the spur making business to my brother, he has returned to making bits.

Just the other day he was visiting with Joyce Kernek on the phone and she was telling him how she had been teaching horsemanship, barrel racing and more down in Brazil. Even There, she saw Wilbur Bits being used frequently!

The bits are currently being carried by The Lazy L Ranch Co. https://www.facebook.com/share/15p9pUNsH5/?mibextid=wwXIfr
I also have many bits available.

These are a combination of solid, clean craftsmanship and a well fit quality bit.

We’ve been doing lots of cleaning in the storage shed and it’s been fun finding some of my treasures from years gone by. I had thought all was lost when I made a poor decision to throw out many many buckles 🤦🏼‍♀️ when I really didn’t think horses would be a part of my life for those few years. Yep, young and dumb 🤣
JW, Jezell and I happened to find a tub that had these few. I had over 200 of them at one time but these seem to have been my favorites. 🤠

I’d like to thank all of those that have come to me to learn more, do more and be more.
This has been a year of many blessings. I have had the opportunity to meet many amazing new families while continue to work with the families that have trusted me for a long time.
Highlights this year included going to the fair with my daughter and Rylee. I hosted the Jane Melby barrel racing clinic, it was an awesome learning session for all. Then in August the Harrison family, from England, came for several days. The Person family came all summer, traveling from Sheridan, to get roping lessons. The summer was filled with riding daily.

The horse life can be a challenging life but there’s nothing better.
I look forward to what is yet to come in 2025!

Love these girls! We celebrated Christmas 🎄 today with the handful that could make it. We did a “white elephant” type gift giving but instead of rolling a dice the girls had to show their knowledge and then earned points to determine who got to pick first.

I’m impressed with the work they’ve put in on body parts, saddle parts, and colors.

Join us in ❄️January ❄️ as we dig deeper into injury prevention, basic health care and treatment of various illnesses and diseases. Classes start January 7th!

12/18/2024

Learning comes in many forms and when ideas, concepts and skills can be presented in different ways, students will strengthen their recollection.
We played saddle parts like the game Simon. The students say it, touch it, and move around. They are having fun, getting a rhythm to the game, building focus and stability.
They each played as the one starting it and also as the follower. It can actually be more difficult leading the game.

These sessions all have availability, as do some random other spots through the month.
There is also an adult class and roping will pick back up in March.

I schedule 3 sessions a month for $75 ($25 a session for unmounted). This includes the weekly hour long session, curriculum materials and occasional craft.

January’s sessions will focus on saddles, bridles, injury prevention and first aid.
In addition to the focus lesson we will do additional learning about breeds, colors, body parts, feeding, and more.
As always, I tie together the love of horses with how it helps humans with communication and relationships.

To get registered, message or call me.

Many people worry about how their horses will stay warm in the winter temps, here’s a bit of info.

I will blanket horses that are health compromised or there are other circumstances when they might need my extra help.

12/11/2024

These winter sessions have been so fun and full of learning! We meet 3 times a month, leaving time for holidays and flexibility in schedules.
I’ve added additional sessions for each age/level to accommodate the growth.

These sessions are filled with age appropriate information from the curriculum, my 40 years of equine experience and decades of rodeo and riding success combined with my teaching skills.

Get in on these winter sessions and be ready to extend your learning in the spring as you move into mounted lessons.

Complete Equine Experience provides horsemanship, riding and roping lessons for all ages & experience

The warm glow of Christmas 🎄 tree lights 😊 and seeing these girls studying and sharing knowledge, makes my heart happy.

All the groups have been mastering the horse parts, breeds and colors.
This month includes more learning about saddles and bridles, mindset and equine behaviors.

If you still want to get started in December, I’ve added groups to accommodate more students.

January will be filled with learning about feeding, colic, injury, first aid, TPR and leg protection.

❄️Keep an eye out for deals on mounted and unmounted sessions🤠 (these could be great Christmas gifts!)

National Finals Breakaway Roping

So many memories. At the end of the 10th performance they announced the Betty Gail Cooper award winner.
I’m sure there’s many others, but I have had the pleasure of learning personally, from Betty Gail Cooper.
My family used to host rodeo clinics every year and she came to teach breakaway roping and goat tying.

I always looked forward to those rodeo clinics. The learning was phenomenal and the experiences that I had were unforgettable. I hope there are kids out there going to various clinics, honing skills and growing.
