It is quite an honor to be inducted into the A Dopo Sourdough Pizza farmers wall of fame! Right next to many of the farmers who I used to purchase produce from weekly, as a customer. All of whom inspired me in some way! I remember when I was working at Katom.com, I told my boss I had to go home because Adopo just placed a $500 order. I’m pretty sure I never went back to work after that day! And that was pretty much exactly 2 years ago! Thanks for all of the support A Dopo Sourdough Pizza 🙏

The real reason I chose market gardening as a profession, so I can ride out anytime I damn please and no one can tell me no!

This high tunnel from didn’t even exist 5 weeks ago. And the spinach on the right will be ready to harvest next week. The salad and onions will follow shortly after. I’m pretty sure it will just about pay back the investment from the first harvest.

Getting beds prepped and ready for planting!

These beds were tarped for a couple months. I pulled back the tarp. Raked off dead crop debris, broad forked, tilthed with the iconoclast, raked smooth and ready for planting. No additional compost or amendments added (there’s literally a ton already) 💪

And got hoops installed over my garlic crop for insect netting to keep the allium leaf miners off. Baby arugula, spinach and baby lettuce mix coming soon! Thanks to everyone for the support 🙏

1500 cloves of garlic planted! The variety is called Music. It is a variety brought to Canada from Italy in the 1970’s by a man named Al Music. Music is a hardneck garlic, generally regarded as the most prized porcelain type. It produces very large bulbs, the white wrappers have some pink tint and purple striping. Approximately 4-7 cloves per bulb. It offers excellent flavor, pungent but not too hot. Scapes can be harvested and used for cooking before the garlic itself is actually harvested. This garlic changed my life! I worked in the restaurant industry for 20 years, and worked my way up to be an executive chef from a dishwasher. And never had I been introduced to an ingredient like this! Garlic always came peeled, and in a plastic tub. Generally soft neck varieties shipped here from China. I quickly began to realize I had been lied to my whole career. The best ingredients cannot be bought in a grocery store, they cannot be ordered from Sysco or US Foods. The only way to source the best ingredients possible is to either grow it yourself. Or know the person who grew it. So I quit my job as an Executive Chef so I could eat the best ingredients possible. I average about $4 per head for this garlic. I almost always get at least one person a week who asks why it’s so expensive. When I tell them this story. And it never fails that they buy it.

800 garlic bulbs down, 800 more to go! Hopefully I’ll get the rest planted this weekend.

I still have all these radishes to move! Price negotiable if you take them all! It’s probably about 50 bunches (5-7 radishes per bunch) I sell them for $3/ bunch at the market. They’re all about golf ball sized. I’m hoping a Chef or restaurant will take them all. Make me an offer. Thanks for the support 🙏

I invested in this garden cart a few weeks ago, and it has probably saved me at least 3-4 hours worth of labor a week. Before I would just lug heavy totes full of harvests back to the wash station 1 by 1. Sometimes as many as 5 or 6 trips back and fourth to harvest a single crop. Reducing my steps on the farm and increasing efficiency is something I’m constantly thinking about. This thing is my new best friend!

Picked up this sweet 500 gallon water tank today. I’ll be hooking this up to the drain pipe on my house to feed my drip irrigation systems in the greenhouses. Special thanks to my buddy Kevin from for having me out and helping me secure this from a retired local farmer!

I had the opportunity to go over to my buddy Paul’s farm and lend a hand with building some beds in his new greenhouse this week. Earlier this summer I had several trees fall down on my new electric fence during a really bad storm. And Paul who also owns a tree service was very quick to offer to come over with his tree service equipment and help me get it cleaned up, in exchange for some help on his farm. I gladly accepted his offer. I first met Paul about 5 years ago at the farmers market where I am now a vendor. My wife and I would shop there every Saturday, often sparking up conversations with farmers about our desire to grow our own food. Paul has been super influential and inspirational to me while starting my own farm. We now sell our products a couple booths away from each other. I couldn’t be happier to be a part of the community! Thanks for everything! Looking forward to the future!
