All professionals, no matter their line of work, need a support system. Since 1884, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association has provided that necessary function to its members and the entire community. To accomplish this goal, the OVMA focuses on lifelong learning, stewardship, compassion, and community in veterinary medicine. The OVMA strives to be a trusted and valued source of information, not

only for veterinarians, but government bodies, academic institutions, and the general public. We aim to stay current on advances in technology, research findings, recalls, new products, and any other developments that affect veterinarians, their clients, and their patients. We represent more than 2,400 veterinarians in a variety of fields and specialties, working in both urban centers and rural communities. We know that we can best accomplish what's necessary by joining together, and together, we share best practices, support one another, and impact the future of veterinary medicine.

When things get tough in adulthood, it might seem appealing to return to simpler times.

To stave off extinction, 40 species of snails live in human care inside an unremarkable trailer near Honolulu. For some, it’s the only place they’re found, their wild populations having completely disappeared.

Hawaii's native tree snails, known as the "jewels of the forest," are rapidly disappearing. Some of the most imperiled only live in human care now, safeguarded 24 hours a day.

Passenger pigeons have been extinct for over a century now, but researchers are testing trees in Wisconsin to look for signs of the birds’ role in the ecosystem. The plan is to bring the bird back and slowly reintroduce it to the forests they once inhabited.

Passenger pigeons have been extinct for over a century, but conservation groups want to bring them back for their role in forestry management. Their hordes were thought to create exceptionally green forests and fertile farmland.

Cats have lived alongside humans for around 12,000 years, and during that time, it seems they've been paying close attention to how we communicate. A new study suggests that our feline companions can even learn to associate the words we use for particular objects or images, and they pick this up faster than our own babies do.
