We are so grateful and couldn't ask for better volunteers than we have. Cora has a special way with our dogs. She comes by the Sanctuary every week to work with our seniors. She always takes one home for a few days to give them time away from all the dogs here, and individual attention and love. This is her with Eve. It's so important to keep her walking because her arthritis is severe. Eve just loves when she's the one Cora chooses for adventures away! β€οΈ
UPDATE: Dora has been adopted! ππ»ππ»ππ»
Would someone adopt this little girl so I can relax and enjoy my favorite TV show in the evenings? π€£
Our precious Memaw singing the blues.
Our darling Wizard learning to walk again. We initially thought his problem was possibly neurological. Our vet now believes everything is due to the extreme matted condition he was found in. He is suffering from atrophy - his hind legs being weak from being bound from matting and also being unable to hold his neck centered. His little head now tilts to his right. We're not sure he will completely recover, but he has already shown major improvement and we just love him to pieces! His now bouncy and happy walk will melt even the coldest heart.

What would a dog rescue do with donations? Well, medicine for our elder pups that have heart murmurs - the meds can be as expensive as $180/month and that is with our discount! Regular preventatives like heartworm/flea meds at $15/month per dog. Freshpet for our seniors with no teeth or compromised teeth is about $17 per dog per week. Then there are vet visits, spaying and neutering, treats, pee pads, and pill pockets.

For everyone wondering about Mia's recovery, here she is! After repeatedly falling flat on her face while learning to balance on 3 legs, she continued to get up and try again. Damn, we can learn so much from dogs. A huge thank you to Tom and Lisa for sponsoring Mia! You gave her a new life, free of pain and full of love. Your love for animals is truly remarkable and we are so grateful you found us.
Ever wonder how dogs can be so resilient. Just look at Mia - 5 broken bones. You'll notice how gingerly she steps. Unfortunately, that will cause pain now and in the future so she requires surgery.
Mia is not the only pup at Miko's Sanctuary waiting for an amputation. Jon Jon is also. The cost for those surgeries are over $2000 each. Will you help us? Use this link to go directly to our PayPal page.

Hi, I'm Taco. Looking for my furever home. I'm about 2 and like most 2 year olds I can be a bit sassy. But, I really do try to be a good boy and listen after a bit. Would you like to be my new mom or dad?

Look at Misty! This is her new summer hairdo!
Have you ever wondered what feeding 15 or 20 dogs looks like?
Cupid is a sweet little guy of about 14 years old. He's blind, gets along really well (he doesn't think it's a disability), and loves the outdoors. He would love a home where he could live out his golden years.

Miko's Sanctuary is a small non-profit organization that provides lifelong sanctuary for abandoned, neglected, and abused senior dogs. Our goal is to fill a much-needed niche for difficult-to-adopt senior pets so that they can live out their golden days with the same comfort as their glory days. This is Clint. Clint is going through a neurological event that will eventually leave his back legs nonfunctional. He will soon need to be on a special device to help him get around. Clint's story: he had a flea collar that his body had grown around. It had to be surgically removed. You can still see the scars around his neck. Despite a one-time good intention with the flea collar, he has severe hair loss from years of severe flea infestation. When he came to the Sanctuary he had the noted hair loss as well as what appeared to be severe arthritis. He is a very calm and patient dog who deserves much better than what he got in life. Welcoming dogs like Clint are why we exist. Please help us rescue more dogs like him.
