9 hours of lessons, quiet time with Stanford and Preston, chasing Fred around to get a flymask on, planting, watering, admiring my flowers, taking care of horses, working with my young ones.. I do believe I am finished now for the day and heading home.

Those of you that knew me
From 10-15 years ago knows that I had an addiction to getting fun and scary jumps. I had quite the collection. However, four years ago, I was convinced to sell all of them, so when I started up my barn again I had to slowly buy new/used jumps and fillers. A couple of weeks ago a friend asked if I wanted some of my jumps back and of course I said yes. Most of them were made by Mad Tack 10 or more years ago and just need a new paint job. They are still as solid as the day I got them. I still have 4 more jumps to add but I ran out of time to add them. I’m so excited to be getting my full training course together!

This is our barn Queen Venus💜 I adore her to the moon and back. She will help someone learn what true riding is about and also makes dreams come true in the show ring.. Her fan club is quite large and I’m her loudest cheerleader💜 not sure there ever could be one as special as her.

Those that know my Legend know just how special this moment is.. when I got him he was a month out of being gelded and off the track. To say he was opinionated was an understatement. He fussed about being groomed and do not even think getting near his flanks.. something went missing last time someone was there.. his stall was his room and he had no problem running people out of it. I gave him the winter to grow up and find himself. We went through a spell of who was going to be the leader but this past month he has let me in completely but this morning was so special.. I was allowed in his room and was able to sit quietly with his head in my lap and even Tobia was allowed in.
His registered name is Legend of Fall and I have to say he is a bit like Tristian, the main character in Legends of Fall…very closed off until you win his heart and I have the privilege of winning Legends💜

Well scammers are at it again!!! I got a call this morning from this woman asking about this paint horse that I had in my barn that I apparently was giving away. This is where she found the ad she said she spoke to someone but they had an accent. So I took it upon myself to ask About this horse on their page. The first conversations are between the woman that called me this morning and the last one is mine with them that includes the phone number. I would love everyone to call him. I’ve already reported them to Facebook every time I report them to Facebook and they come up with a new thing.

Be kind.. the equine industry is not an industry for everyone. We not only take care of your horse but you as well. All of us do things differently but we do it because of our love for the horse. Long after you go home from the barn or show we are still working.. working on how to do things better, working on apppointments, working on how to make everyone get their time, working on what works best for your horse, working on a sick horse, working on trying to make a budget work, working on ideas to keep bringing revenue in, working on show schedules, working on everything to make horse ownership doable…time gets away from us. We miss out on things in life to help keep you and horses happy. What do we get.. many happy times and some great friendships. But what we also get is hate. Just because you don’t agree with our practices or because you weren’t winning enough or just jealousy.. we live in a world of horrible rumors and people that love drama that love to spread those rumors. We can’t be everything to everyone all of the time. We try.. we wake up trying, we go to bed trying. Do we all make mistakes…yes we do.. every person on this earth makes mistakes. We learn and grow from them.
The stress of this industry is no joke. We smile and say everything is ok because we don’t want to “lose face” or seem weak. Our smiles hide pain, worry, loss of sleep and sometimes hope…
Remember we got into this business for the same reason you own a horse..because we love them
Please be kind people!!

I sure hope the weather from the last several shows isn’t how it’s going to go this show season… but I have to say I have some tough clients and horses! We had another great show yesterday TWA Horse Shows!
Rilynn Hiatt rode Natasha Lubik’s (who is in France by the way☺️) amazing horse Lily to champion in the thoroughbreds followed by Rachel Sidari and her freak (the best kind) of a jumper Halo to reserve champion. Then Rilynn finished her day off riding Clown to reserve champion in the child/adults. We want to thank Camryn Humphreys for braving the rain and coming to help. It would have been so much more miserable without you! I was so glad to get home last night after driving in the rain but I thoroughly enjoyed our truck discussions! Love my people!!

I’d say the Willow Springs Equestrian’s gang had a good year! BHSA banquet was last night and 3 of us were running in different directions, luckily we had Natasha Lubik that attended to pick up our riders loot! Natasha was 4th in the jumper eq and 3rd in the lows and winning a helmet bag and a grooming bag. Ben Reeves was 5th in Thoroughbred winning a halter and a 7th in Lows and Rilynn Hiatt was 6th lows winning a saddle pad and 7th in Child/Adult. To say these 3 had an amazing show season is an understatement. Not all of it was easy but they kept working and learning and have grown so much as riders and young adults. I’m so proud of them in every aspect of their life 💜

Dear middle class horse show family, I see you.

I see you picking and choosing what shows you can afford.

I see you buy your child that older, been there done that mid level horse.

I see you on the rail at every lesson, soaking up all the information that you can.

I see you scouring the internet for second hand clothing for your child.

I see you at shows, cleaning your own tack and grooming horses to save money.

I see you happily entering your child and horse in classes against high dollar made horses and cheering everyone on equally.

I see you hug your children when they come out of the ring win, lose or draw.

I see all of you sitting at the stalls, having a great time with your adopted horse show families.

I see you wishing you were rich so you could buy one of those high dollar horses for your child, but understanding that your child is learning valuable lessons on that older been there, done that horse.

I see you. And I hope that you know that when you look back on your time with your child, the stable and your horse show family how rich you are.

You may wonder why we pull back into the syringe when giving injections in the vein. This picture explains why. We don't pull back to make sure we're in the vessel, we do it to make sure we're in the RIGHT vessel. Today I went to give an injection and pulled back and saw blood brighter than I wanted. I decided to go and get a new dose of sedation and once again pulled back and then gave my dose of sedation. The syringe on the left was my first injection and the syringe on the right was my second injection. Does anyone know why I shouldn't have injected that first syringe? And had I injected that first injection, what would have happened?
