It started with one pug and a massively complicated autoimmune disorder. Today Pug Hollow is a home based Hospice and long term care sanctuary for small dogs under 25 pounds. It is unfortunate but often dogs are abandoned at shelters, vet offices or on the side of the road when they become old or ill. Some of them were family pets who became inconvenient. Others have never known what it is to be a

part of a loving home. Pug Hollow believes that every dog deserves to end his or her life with love, comfort and compassion. Our mission is to provide as many of those dogs as possible with a safe, comfortable home where they will be loved and cared for as long as they live, and where they will be compassionately assisted across the Rainbow Bridge if necessary.

Cio left us last night. I would say unexpectedly, but it wasn’t really. When she came in the vet recommended euthanasia due to quality of life. Cio had a badly healed crushed pelvis and a mass of tumors in her chest so large it was deviating her trachea into a U bend. We took her home for 7 days to see if we could try to improve her quality of life, and that 7 days turned into 7 years of happiness. She was sassy. She was sweet. She was loved. She will be missed.
