The Ranunculus has grown so much since it was planted out in December. A lot of covering, uncovering, repeat, but worth it so far- spring is right around the corner. A few other overwintered plants - larkspur, allium and my first-ever tulip, poking up! Beautiful day to do some garden clean up (although I spent WAY too much time trying to figure out how to add more string to the w**d eater…🤨.) 🌿

1300 Ranunculus finally in the ground. They should be blooming mid March. I have all the colors. (If it looks like I’m watering the leaves in the pathway, it’s because I am…..😬 didn’t want them to blow away before they got settled in.)

Couldn’t help but stop and take a picture yesterday of the way the sun reflected on the trees. While listening to one of my favorite pastors, he gave the definition of thankfulness as “a proper response to a recognized blessing.” Hoping this Thanksgiving we all recognize our blessings. 🌿

We got a hard frost last night, so things are officially dead - except the perennials, they’ll be back next year. Although I need to prepare most of the beds now for planting early next spring, I’m going to leave some of them as they are for the birds to overwinter in and I’ll get to them next spring; I know they’ll appreciate a place to live over the winter. And as a bonus, they’ll be here early to eat all the bad bugs. 🌻

The Lizzie’s are starting to bloom 🥳. There’s purple, Misty pink, and coming up soon will be white and orange. Perfect for weddings or any occasion, they last a really long time❣️

I had no idea Scabiosa is so hearty; this bunch was accidentally left in my van for 3 days. I saw it today and pulled it out; still had water in the bucket but it’s been in the high 80’s and low 90’s all week and I don’t park in the garage!

My Flower Farm

Windmill Gardens is a locally owned flower farm, set in a picturesque backdrop of hayfields, cows and gorgeous sunsets. Retiring here from a busy out-of-state city, I was immediately drawn to the peace and openness of the country. It seemed only natural to grow flowers and share in the beauty of the land. Seasonal blooms, interesting foliage and lavender are the basis of what I grow here. I am a member of the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers and choose to utilize chemical-free practices. Selling primarily to florists, I also welcome individual purchases. Contact me by phone, email or page.
