Update: Lil Spencer is getting adopted!

Lil Spencer the 5 month old kitten survived the hurricane then was likely dumped. One of our veterinarian's brothers found him dumped and starving at the plant he works at (in another parish) the day after the hurricane. Lil Spencer is a very sweet boy who loves to be held and hug, is a star employee at the biscuit making factory, likes to suckle on blankets/sweatshirts, and follows you around like the little puppy that he is. He is fully vetted, litterbox trained, and up for adoption to an indoor home only. Please message us if you're interested in adopting our foster kitten!

(He got neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, felv/fiv tested [negative]), f***l, flea and heartworm prevention yesterday. He will need to be microchipped and a booster vaccine in 3 weeks ).

‼️We will be closed Wednesday and likely Thursday. See below for emergency clinic numbers should an emergency arise with a pet on one of these days. ‼️

Please call us at 225-744-4905 before Wednesday to get your pet's storm/anxiety medications, other medications, and prescription foods refilled.🌀🌀

With that being said, please call us ASAP (Monday and Tuesday ) to get your pet's medications (including heartworm and flea prevention) and prescription foods refilled; weather conditions may impact our clinic hours and we may be closed as weather conditions deteriorate later in the week. ⚡️🌧🌩🌀

‼️‼️‼️PLEASE make sure your pets are MICROCHIPPED (*and that the chip is REGISTERED; *an unregistered chip does nothing*). Call us to schedule this if you need it done. It takes a few minutes, is inexpensive, lasts a lifetime, and can reunite you with your pet.

🐕🦮🐕‍🦺🐩🐈🐈‍⬛Proof of updated vaccines are sometimes required if you plan to evacuate, board your pets, travel/stay at hotels--make sure you have this! Please make sure your outdoor cats/dogs/small mammals are relocated inside or to a safe place. 🐈‍⬛🐈🐩🐕‍🦺🦮🐕

If you find yourself wanting to help those in need, Cara's House-Ascension Parish Animal Shelter has over 300 animals on grounds that need hurricane fosters (they provide everything and animals are vetted; they just need a place to stay during the storm). Contact them if you can/want to help!

We're celebrating the 🐸 leap year 🐸 with 2 of our adorable patients, Cyclops and Wolverine 💚💚💚 Fun Fact: Poison dart frogs born and raised in captivity are not poisonous- it's all about diet! Poison dart frogs acquire their toxins, call alkaloids, in the wild (from a very specialized diet of ants, millipedes and mites, that themselves feed on a special diet of rainforest fungi and plants). Happy February 29th!
