Valentine's Day is just around the corner and that means there may be more chocolate in the house. It's crucial to be mindful of the potential dangers chocolate poses to our pets and keep it out of reach.

Chocolate contains theobromine, a compound that dogs process much more slowly than humans. Even small amounts can cause symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and an increased heart rate, while larger amounts can lead to more severe health issues. Since theobromine is found in cacao, chocolates with higher cacao content, like dark chocolate and baking chocolate, are especially toxic to pets.

If your pet has not had a professional dental cleaning within the past year, reach out to your veterinarian and see if your pet is due.

February is Pet Dental Health Month! Everyone knows that routine dental visits are important for the health of our teeth, but did you know that it is just as important for your pet? Dental disease results from the buildup of bacteria, plaque, and tartar on teeth and beneath the gum line, causing pain. If left untreated, it can lead to systemic health issues as bacteria enter the bloodstream and affect vital organs.
