Pets age more rapidly than humans and although a natural process, your pet becomes more susceptible to a number of health issues.
We recommend physical exams every 6 months and blood work at least yearly for senior pets. This helps monitor their organ function and notice any physical changes that may need to be addressed sooner rather than later to help keep your pet healthy as long as possible. To schedule your pets senior wellness exam please call our office at 225-402-0961.

September- Pet Pain Awareness Month- A question that we are often asked is “how can I tell if my pet is in pain if they can not tell me?” Pets can be very stoic in how they communicate that they are in pain, so at times they may not show any signs. The most common responses to look for are depression, aggression, limping, resistance to petting or grooming, not eating, panting excessively, and much more. If you have concerns that your pet could be in pain, reach out to us at 225-402-0961

This cutie is Katt Williams. He is a sweet boy and as you can see, his eyes are unique.
He has what is called symblepharon. This is a condition that is usually caused by Feline Herpes virus in young kittens. This most likely happened before his eyes were even open. Symblepharon is where the conjunctiva, the tissue lining the eyelid and covering the white part of the eye, adheres to itself or the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye. Correction for his condition involves surgery. He is most likely 100% blind due to the tissue covering his eye ball but this does not slow him down. He is not painful and still plays and demands attention.
