Meet Roscoe! This sweet boy grew up in the shelter and is now 8 months old! He is the last of his litter. Roscoe does great with kids but can we shy to warm up at first. He can be picky about his dog friends but when he bonds with one, they are his absolute best friend. He plays rough and would love a dog friend he can play with! He can sit, lay down, and shake, and loves to play fetch. He is in a foster home currently with other dogs and lots of children. If you would like to meet Roscoe, you will need to set up an appointment so his foster can bring him in.

He does well playing with his friends at the shelter but can be shy meeting new dogs. He absolutely loves people. Rodd needs a home! To apply to adopt, send us a message or visit the shelter!

Mecha is the dog that was loose for over a year over by the college. She is the sweetest girl and now prefers the inside life. She was so relieved to finally be caught and no longer have to be on the run. Now when she goes outside, she does her business and runs right back in! Mecha is around 3 years old and maybe an Australian shepherd mix? Mecha is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. To apply to adopt, send us a message or visit the shelter.

ADDITION: She really is such a sweet girl. I keep hoping someone who lives out in the country will take interest. I think she would be a perfect farm dog that also gets to come in the house. She is wicked smart and savvy to the ways of the wild. Haha. She outsmarted every animal and human that tried to catch her originally. With the help of oral sedatives and her love of hotdogs we were able to catch her and earn her trust. There's no looking back now. She's a believer that humans can show love and kindness, not just hotdogs and brisket and Christmas dinner leftovers.
Please talk to anyone you know and let's get this sweet girl a perfect home.

Our new profile and cover photos are of a dog named Ditch or Bubba. We seem to call him Bubba more. Bubba was found living and running from home to home out in the country. He would find a place, stay for a few days and then either be ran off or just move on. He is a wonderful dog. He never has accidents in his kennel. He never chews up his toys or bedding. He plays well with other dogs and loves people. He likes to be outside running around or inside laying on the cool floor. He would make someone a wonderful farm dog and even someone who lives in town with a large yard would be a good fit for Bubba.

1-2yrs old
fully vetted: Neuter, vaccines, heartworm test, microchip
We think he is a lab mix of some sort. Something big since he is around 104 pounds.
He enjoys being brushed and let us do whatever medical procedures we needed to do without any complaint. He is a very polite boy who does get excited to see people sometimes and forgets his size, but for the most part he is a gently giant.
Please consider adopting Bubba. You won't regret it!! His adoption fee is reduced to $100. Call or message us to set up a time to meet this guy.

Hello PAHS supporters!! I wanted to let everyone know that our shoes have all been picked up and we ended up with 149 bags of shoes!! I AM SO AMAZED AND HUMBLED BY THE AMOUNT OF SUPPORT PAHS RECEIVED FROM OUR COMMUNITY!!!!

We were just 1 bag short of jumping into the next price per pound bracket, but we still gathered an astronomical amount of shoes.
Our community helped me gather 3,725 PAIRS OF SHOES!! YES, YOU READ THAT CORRECTLY---3725 PAIRS!
I am not sure of the total weight yet. After the shoes were picked up, they took a trip to the Funds2org headquarters in Florida for final processing. This includes, sorting, cleaning, weighing we are at $0.45 per pound. and packing. I should know how much money our community helped PAHS to raise within the next 2 weeks. The minute I know, I will share with you!! As an average, I was told that the bags weigh around 20lbs each. I know we had many many bags that weighed more than that! My shoulders said around 35-40lbs haha.

I also want to thank all of the local businesses that helped promote us!! We couldn't have done it with out you!!
Thank You to:

HAIR ECT
PEACHEY INSURANCE
BOMGAARS
THE PEOPLES BANK
& THE PRATT COUNTY COURTHOUSE
for letting us have drop boxes at your locations.

I'd like to give a special Thank You to Cathy Abbott for all her hard work with promoting our shoe drive, being a drop off location AND bringing us boxes and boxes and boxes and bags of shoes numerous times!! (Cathy, I bet you had 20-30 bags just with what you brought us) Cathy also took on a live radio spot for me promoting the shoe drive!!
I am so thankful that this fundraiser was such a success!! If anyone wants to do something like this for their organization, reach out to me and I will give you all the details. (I learned about this through the animal shelter in Hiawatha Ks.)

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

We dont want to "refuse" to take in your animals. We can't take them. We are unable to take in every single animal that desperately needs it. We do not have one single run or kennel to take them in. We have already been reported to the state because someone thought we had too many animals and assumed we weren't taking good care of them. Hahah. Our animals live better than alot of shelter animals. It breaks my heart to say no. But if I take in any more I'm jeopardizing the ability of our shelter to stay open. That's why 4 kittens are in foster care and I ended up adopting the senior boxer that would have been first on a euthanasia list due to age and health. I pray things will level out soon. In the mean time I can issue vouchers for $25 spay or neuter to get ferals done. The ferals have to be able to be handled and placed into a carrier, NOT A TRAP. This will be through S.N.A.P. and at this time is only available to Pratt Co. Let me know if you would like to get any of the ferals in your neighborhood done. The ones that are old enough. I am working on a system to get the spicy ferals that have to be trapped done also.

Also, if it is a feral but you are feeding it and providing shelter or letting it in your house, you are assuming responsibly for that feral cat, get it spayed or neutered. $25 is cheap. As long as people don't lie and try to work the system to get their personal cats done we will continue doing this until our funds run out.
We still offer vouchers for qualifying owned pets with proof of income and pratt residency.
