Horse in Coffee County is confirmed positive for rabies.

Rabies is a fatal viral infection that attacks the brain and spinal cord of mammals. It is most commonly transmitted through the bite of an infected animal, as the virus is carried in saliva and nervous tissue. Exposure can also occur through scratches or when saliva contacts a mucous membrane. While rabies can be prevented with timely treatment before symptoms develop, the disease is almost always deadly once signs appear.

Keep your pets safe and your family safe. Vaccinate your pets!

Pet not up to date? Give us a call and we can fix that!

An investigation was begun September 22 after a horse in Coffee County was confirmed positive for rabies. Rabies is a viral disease that is almost always fatal if untreated.

We were honored to accept the award for Best Small Business 51-100 employees for 2025!

Fewer veterinary clinics are staying privately owned. More and more are being bought up by corporations, which is changing the face of veterinary medicine. As a locally owned clinic we want you to know that your support means we can continue to keep veterinary medicine personal, community-focused, and patient-centered.

Thank you so much Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, and thank you to each and every one of our pet parents that let us continue caring for their best friend!

Did you know that this week is Deaf Dog Awareness week?

How to Participate in Deaf Dog Awareness Week:

1.Educate yourself and others: about the characteristics and needs of deaf dogs, including their resilience and intelligence.

2.Celebrate deaf dogs: by sharing stories and photos of your deaf or hearing-impaired pets on social media.

3. Learn to communicate: using hand signals and visual cues, which deaf dogs learn quickly and effectively.

4. Encourage adoption: of deaf and special-needs dogs from shelters and rescues.

5. Support deaf dogs and their families: by fostering understanding and providing resources.

🐾 Thank you to everyone who donated to our humane shelter food drive! CFPHC will be distributing the donated food and items to the local shelters this week, and we couldn’t have done it without you. Though our food drive is over, if you have items/food that the shelters can use, they are always accepting donations! We are so proud of our CFPHC family and we look forward to future efforts to help our local shelters.
