🧧🐍 Happy Lunar New Year from Paws for Compassion! 🐍🧧

As we welcome the Year of the Yin Wood Snake, we embrace a year of wisdom, transformation, and renewal—qualities that resonate deeply with the work we do for animals in need. 🌿✨

The Snake represents patience, resilience, and deep intuition, while the Wood element symbolizes growth and compassion. This is the perfect time to reflect on how we can bring more kindness into the world—especially for the animals who depend on us. 🐶🐱💚

At Paws for Compassion, we believe in creating a future where every animal is safe, loved, and cared for. Whether it’s through adoption, fostering, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness, your actions make a difference!

Wishing you a year filled with peace, prosperity, and plenty of pawsitive moments! 🐾🥰

********He’s been found safe********

This little guy is missing. He wandered away from his fosters home on the 1400 block of Cathedral Pines Drive in Prescott. He was just relocated here from California displaced from the fires and is now lost in the below freezing temperatures. He’s a 14-year-old male, black and gray Chihuahua mix. If anybody spots him, please call 667–364–87 three three.

In honor of Adopt a Senior Pet Month, enjoy a small collage of these amazing beings that we are lucky enough to have in our lives, Duncan and Lady. Almost 16 years old and have gone through many things, but still will us (in their minds telepathically) to take them on daily walks, enjoy their spoiled meals and get everything else they deserve. Grateful for these seniors and adopting them from Arizona Beagle Rescue 🥰❤️❤

Dogtoberfest!!!

I was thrilled to have a booth for my business, Paws for Compassion, at this year’s Dogtoberfest, one of Prescott, AZ’s biggest local events that raises money for our humane society. At my booth, I had a special memorial tree where people honored their beloved animal companions by tying ribbons with names of those lost and receiving a rose quartz heart to keep their pets close to them. We also gave away free dog toys, treats from a local vendor, and adorable plush keychains for the adults. It was a busy, wonderful day filled with meeting amazing animal lovers and their companions. Thank you to everyone who came by and shared your stories - I look forward to seeing you again! ❤️

🐾September is World Animal Remembrance Month, a time to honor and reflect on the lives of beloved animal companions who are no longer with us. From cats and dogs to iguanas and beyond, our animal companions have left a lasting impact on our hearts. This month offers a space for healing and remembrance, acknowledging the profound grief that follows their loss.
Animal remembrance has evolved significantly over time. In the 19th century, pets were often discarded without sentiment, but by the Victorian era, they began to be seen as family members deserving of commemoration. Today, we've now deepened the bond between humans and their pets, with a focus on pet health, diet, and the impact of animals on human well-being. And now, there are animal chaplains like us who can now come in to support!

Here’s some ways we can observe World Animal Remembrance Month:

- Reflect on the animals who touched our lives.
- Create new memories by volunteering with animals in need.
- Show extra love to our current pets.
- Honor their legacy with keepsakes, tree plantings, photo albums, donations to animal charities, or memorial services.
- Let’s celebrate the joy and love our pets brought into our lives.

If you've ever wondered how to support a grieving pet, an animal chaplain might be the answer. Animal chaplains provide spiritual support to pets and their owners during difficult times, such as the loss of a pet or major life changes. These compassionate individuals help families navigate the emotional complexities of pet loss, offering rituals and ceremonies to honor the departed animal's life.

My fellow animal chaplains and I are trained to understand and address the deep bond between humans and their pets. We provide comfort, support, and spiritual care tailored to each unique situation. Whether your pet is going through an illness, a major transition, or you are facing the heart-wrenching decision of euthanasia, an animal chaplain can offer a guiding hand and a comforting presence.

Caring for your beloved pets during their health challenges can be both daunting and draining. Yet, discovering effective solutions is incredibly empowering!

In our personal journey with Duncan, facing kidney disease and a persistent liver tumor impacting his digestion, we explored various avenues alongside our trusted veterinarian, including palliative care options. We felt it was worth sharing some of the successes that we've had to help encourage you to find the right ones for your beloved animal companions.

When Duncan began struggling to eat in the mornings due to hip dysplasia, investing in the Help Em Up Harness proved transformative. Attaching the walking lead to the harness provided him the necessary support, enabling him to enjoy his meals again with vigor.

Additionally, under our vet's guidance, we incorporated RxFormulas Phos-Bind into his regimen, witnessing a significant drop in his phosphorus levels within five weeks, returning them to a healthy range. Our daily routine includes Standard Process liver for Duncan and thyroid support for Lady Bug, supplemented with Dr. Mercola's GI Support and RXVitamins RxCoriolus Forte for comprehensive gastrointestinal health, yielding remarkable outcomes for both.

We just celebrated Duncan's 15th birthday last week, with Lady Bug's coming in April. Remember, every pet is unique, so keep exploring until you find the right solution for yours - there are so many available to us all now!

Support Animals for Cancer Patients
Emotional support animals (ESAs) are meant to provide individuals with care and companionship for patients undergoing cancer treatment. The most common emotional support animals are dogs or cats. My personal journey knows how important these two beagles have been!

Emotional support animals can:
- Create an emotional connection during a difficult time
- Distract a patient when they are in pain
- Ease feelings of anxiety
- Eliminate feelings of isolation
- Keep patients occupied and eliminate boredom
- Relieve symptoms of depression
- Socialize patients who are unable to leave the house
