Join me now in my Prescott Meetup Group: PRESCOTT COMMUNITY CARE FOR ANIMAL LOVERS

Prescott Community Care for Animal Lovers is a welcoming space for people who love, care for, and grieve animals. Led by animal chaplain Jennifer Baker of Paws for Compassion, this group offers compassionate presence, conversation, and practical tools for navigating the emotional and spiritual dimensions of life with animals.

Through community gatherings, classes, and partnerships, Jennifer supports individuals, caregivers, and animal professionals in honoring the human–animal bond — including times of joy, transition, illness, loss, and caregiving fatigue. Her work blends listening, ritual, education, and reflection, creating space for both meaning and mutual support.

This community also connects with Jennifer’s Yavapai College Community Education classes, which explore topics such as animal companionship, grief support, caregiver care, compassion fatigue, and simple rituals for honoring animals. Whether you attend a class, join a gathering, or simply come to listen, all are welcome.

No matter where you are in your journey with animals — celebrating, caring, grieving, or learning — this is a space where you don’t have to carry it alone.

These classes gently explore grief, ritual, celebrations, compassion fatigue, and care for animals and the people who love them. I’d love to have you join us. 💛🐾

🎄🐾 Holiday Pet Food Drive for Animals in Need 🐾🎄
This season and all year long, let’s extend our compassion to the animals in our community who need a little extra love. Many families are struggling, and keeping their pets fed can be heartbreaking challenge.

Support our local United Animal Friends Community Pet Food Bank Program, which provides essential food and supplies to help pets stay with the families who love them.

Recent review from my Fall 2025 course:
"I recently had the privilege of taking Jennifer Baker’s course at Yavapai College, Nurturing the Human-Animal Bond: Support, Rituals, and Healing. This experience opened my eyes to the profound importance of the work she offers as an Animal Chaplain.

Jennifer provides compassionate support and meaningful guidance for both pets and their owners, especially during the tender times when a beloved companion is nearing the end of life or has passed. She has a remarkable ability to hold space with empathy and grace, while also equipping you with tools and rituals to navigate grief and honor the bond you share with your animal.

Her services are not only deeply healing but also empowering, helping you move through difficult transitions with love and understanding. I highly recommend Jennifer and Paws for Compassion to anyone seeking comfort, clarity, and soulful support in their journey with their pets. I will be sharing her courses and services with all my friends, as her work is truly invaluable."

🐾 November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month 🐾

While puppies and kittens may steal the spotlight, there’s something deeply special about our older animal friends. Senior pets have stories to tell, hearts full of love, and wisdom in every gentle glance. 💛

Adopting a senior dog or cat means opening your heart to a soul who already knows how to love — and who will be forever grateful for a soft bed, kind words, and a hand to hold. They may move a little slower, but their capacity for affection is boundless.

If you’re considering adoption, take a look at the “silver whiskers” and “frosted faces” waiting in shelters. You might just find the best companion you’ve ever known.

🐕🐈 Every season of life deserves love.

Why does losing a pet hurt as much as losing someone you love? 💭

It’s not “just an animal.” It’s your companion, your safe space, your silent healer. The psychology behind pet loss reveals that our brains and hearts don’t separate love by species — they recognize bond, trust, and emotional connection. 🐶🐱

When a pet dies, we lose more than a friend — we lose routine, comfort, and the quiet presence that loved us without judgment. Psychology calls this the attachment bond, the same kind of emotional tie we form with humans. That’s why grieving a pet can feel just as heavy, just as real. 💔

This video explores the psychology of grief, love, and healing, showing why pets touch the deepest part of the human heart. You’ll understand that your sadness is not weakness — it’s proof that you loved deeply. 🌿

If you’ve ever felt guilty for mourning a pet “too much,” know this: your pain is valid, your love is real, and healing takes time. ❤️‍🩹

🐾 Happy National Cat Day! 🐾

Today we celebrate our feline friends — the soft-pawed, slow-blinking, whisker-twitching souls who share their quiet magic with us every day. 🐱

Cats have a way of reminding us to rest when we need it, to find joy in simple things, and to be unapologetically ourselves. Whether they’re curled on your lap, chattering at the window, or knocking things off your desk just to make you laugh — they bless our homes and hearts in the most delightful ways. 💛

Take a moment today to honor the cats you love — past or present. Light a candle, share a story, or simply whisper “thank you.”

✨ Here’s to the healers in fur coats who remind us daily of the beauty in stillness and companionship.

🐾💚 Honoring National Veterinary Technician Week 💚🐾
October 12–18

This week, we celebrate and honor the incredible veterinary technicians who show up every single day with skill, patience, and so much heart.

Vet techs are the quiet heroes behind the scenes — holding paws, comforting families, and offering calm in some of the most emotional moments we face with our beloved companions. Their compassion bridges science and soul.

To every vet tech: thank you for the tenderness you bring to the healing journey. Your care ripples far beyond the exam room.

Let’s take a moment this week to say thank you — write a note, drop off a treat, or simply share your gratitude with your local clinic.
