Shout out to this sweet young lady who is an absolute animal whisperer. All animals. Especially cats though 😻. She volunteers at Kitty City with rescued cats and is so experienced with handling all different types (and fear levels) of cats.

I was able to finally trap this wild kitten that was living under our porch. She is the first person that the kitten had allowed to pick her up. Because of the handling and care this young lady has helped with, I was able to take the kitten to the vet the other day for a wellness check, blood work and shots. She was surprisingly calm and did great! Now she can become a healthy and friendly member of our barn family.

The wheel of our earth, seasons. The connection to ground, to sky, to nature. The observation of the things, life, movements, sounds, stillness, silence all around us changing and existing ever so slowly. A lot of strength lies in this. This is within each of us. Model to our children to be slow, observe and connect to the rhythms of nature. As they grow up and get busy, this will serve them so well. To remember who they are, where they come from and the earth, sky, stars and spiritual place they come from. Today is a time of spiritual growth, inner strength building and opening back up out into the world. But everyday, breathe and observe-even in the rushed moments. Especially in the rushed and hard moments. Happy summer ☀️🌻☀️🌻☀️

A CHILD'S SUMMER ASSIGNMENT FOR SUCCESS: Be a child. Have fun, go outside, be bored, run around until you're exhausted, goof off, draw stuff, build Legos, get muddy, scrape your knees, read lots of paper books, and think nothing of screens or school!

We love this advice from William Doyle, the co-author of Let the Children Play! Let's embrace it this summer!

Sahalie Maurer's Equine Science Placement SAE at Barnraised, an equine-assisted therapy company for children and young adults with developmental disabilities, involves caring for the company's five horses and her own horse used by Barnraised. Initially focused on horse care, Sahalie progressed to assisting therapy sessions and eventually leading her own sessions. She undertakes various tasks, including horse care, session preparation, and client interaction, requiring close communication with both the horses and clients. Overcoming challenges in communication with clients and ensuring safety for both horses and participants, Sahalie has developed strategies such as individualized attention for the horses and teaching basic safety procedures to clients. Through dedication and hands-on experience, she has expanded her role from caretaker to session leader, positively impacting both the clients' well-being and the horses' welfare. Congrats Sahalie!

Well my assistant (aka daughter) just placed first in state for FFA Equine Science. Great job! Equine Science is the most popular and competitive category in the state of Arizona so this is a huge compliment to her knowledge and hard work.

Spring is here officially. Happy equinox!
It’s still cold and we even had snow a few days ago…but if you take some time to slow down, and really observe Mother Nature, she is sure showing off with early signs of spring as this little one discovered.

I love working nature and seasons into what we do with the horses. It helps my kiddos to learn to slow down and be in tune with the seasons which is so soothing and carries into adulthood. Coping skills, lower stress levels and feeling more harmonious, calm and self confident- that’s what happens when we are observant of what is happening outdoors around us.

Bundle up! Winter sessions start this week! Forecast is for lots of rain and snow. Spending time outside is important in ALL seasons and weather. So good for the soul and your health- emotional, mental and physical. Having a purpose -like horses that depend on you for care- to make you get outside is a blessing.

I am so looking forward to seeing everyone again after break. And I know the animals are too!

Up at 4:30 AM and on the road in the pitch dark and freezing cold to head two hours out to a livestock show to show her dairy goat. All for the love of goats.
