I am out of town this weekend, cheering on my girl at regionals!!!
She has grown so much physically and mentally this season. What a great experience! My favorite was learning about Gold Fish Mentality: Learn from your mistakes; don't dwell on them. Stay positive, and keep moving forward. Allow others to do so as well and don't hold their mistakes against them. Life lessons learned from volleyball😉

I am pleased to announce that our very own clinic cat, Flavi Burrito, has been chosen as the National Aeronatic's Feline Space Exploration Program (NAFSEP) candidate. Flavi's trip will start October 18, 2025, exactly 62 years since the last cat took a trip to space. The purpose of the exploration program is to study how Feline Herpesvirus simplex 1 (FHV-1) is affected by microgravity. Join us October 4 from 1-3pm in sending Flavi off. We hope this trip will clear him from his constant eye goobers!

I cringe when pets get into the trash. Tremorgenic mycotoxins found on moldy food cause big problems. These mycotoxins are commonly found on decaying organic material like burn/garbage piles, compost, silage, carcasses.

So my home county, Crawford County(CC), developed a CC Women in Business Impact Organization. As if I am not busy enough with 4 active kids, running my own business, and supporting my husband’s business😉, I have become passionate about organizing a similar organization here.

I put together a jotform to see if there is interest in forming a similar, but adaptable to this area, organization here. Scan the QR code or link below:

Over the past, roughly, 5 years of running my own small business, I have been able to meet numerous small business owners all over NW IA and I have found that I can relate with all of them.

Current thoughts:

Collabration with women small business owners to make a community impact while preserving self-care*. Eventually, thinking scholarship or mentorship programs for young women. Maybe even meeting speakers or de-stressing meetings.

Feature a woman-owned local business periodically on social media.

Preserve what is important. Develop. Collaborate and Innovate. We can go anywhere when we keep ourselves healthy and put our minds together.

*self-care. I work in an extremely stressful field with an extremely high burn-out rate and su***de rate. I have found that setting boundaries, time by myself, time with friends, being outdoors, working out, and time with God are vital to me. In the questionaire, there is a question about self-care and if you want to be part of a group devotion or prayer before meetings.

I have been spaying and neutering farm cats like crazy! With these warmer temps and longer days, now is the time to prevent those early spring litters.

This stray boy was on death's doorstep last week from untreated fighting wounds. He was found just in time. Neutering him decreases that fighting and roaming behavior.

I unexpectedly hung out with this sweetie yesterday 😬😍
Somehow she managed to get a big, deep puncture wound in her thigh. She was a trooper, but she was wanting to outsmart the "party hat (e-collar)" so Mom improvised with party pants to keep her from removing her drain/stitches!
Hoping for a speedy, uneventful recovery for Miss Ginger🤞

I am hopping on here to notify you all that response times to inquiries will be delayed as I am needed more at home due to some family medical issues. I hope to resume normal fall response times in a week or 2.
Those that know me know my fall response times are still delayed, but hoping they won’t be as delayed in a week or 2 😉. Managing my business, solo parenting my littles during my husband’s rigorous fall schedule (especially when there is no rain) and helping with the farm are a balancing act, one that I love, so thank you for understanding. I will respond to client messages and general inquiries as soon as I can, but if something is dire please seek help at one of the many fabulous clinics that offer emergency services.

For those that know me I do not take compliments well and they often catch me off-guard when I am simply just “doing my job...” while getting to know you. I do love getting to know people and their pets and their stories.
I do not know if I am just bashful about attention or maybe I do not want to live up to the “hype,” (I know many, many excellent veterinarians so I do not want to be compared) so I deflect compliments like so many do. Today I had a completely, unexpected surprise…I was notified that someone nominated me for SRG people’s choice veterinarian and that totally melted my heart. Whoever you are, thank you. It is an honor to be nominated. Also, I want to thank my clients (all of my clients are so appreciative❤️); I enjoy their kind words even though in the moment I may deflect. I pour my heart into my family and I try my best for your family. To me, God and family and friends are everything.

Shout out to my baby who turns 3 today! She was a baby when God started putting my life-long career dream into motion. I didn't know how I was going to juggle raising a baby and starting a practice, but sometimes you just have to jump in and have a little faith. She has gone from the baby being bathed next to surgical tools to a little hell-raiser that loves all animals.
